If I could wrap perfection in a singular gesture,
If I could capture the essence of the perfect moment,
It would be at the very instant
Your fingers make contact with my skin.
The anticipation just before it happens,
The electricity as it first registers in my brain,
And the final release of endorphins
As my body temperature soars…
It’s the one thing I desire and can’t ignore.
It kidnaps my thoughts when I wake
And holds them ransom till I dream again.
Sometimes I move through my day,
Incessantly pushing away those nibbling cravings,
Trying to pretend that I am not captivated by your magic.
If there was a moment that could be captured and preserved,
Something that could be labeled “in case of emergency, break glass”
It would be that very moment when you touch me.
