 Larry and the Excercise Bikes!!
Larry and the exercise bikes !!

What is the ol’ saying ?
One mans junk is another man’s treasure!

What exactly would you consider a treasure from another person? Would it be something that was of much value to you in either money or passion? Or would it be something that was just to good to throw away?!

Well I live with a man who believes in both of those reasons, passion and the fact that it’s just to good to throw away!! lol
But he is not quite as bad as his dad and other family members! I am not bad mouthing anyone for this at all, hell I have found myself doing or saying the same thing! But I have also realized that a person cannot save everything or tell themselves they can find a use for that. Most of the stuff I have gotten second hand I have found shoved away in a corner or even going through a household cleanup session of mine have found stuff I forgot about, or can’t remember why or who I got this from!! lol

My dad collected and never threw away anything either. We had two, two car garages that only could fit one car each in….barely!!
Then the basement which was huge filled with everything since my mom and us kids moved in when we were 2 and 3 years old. I’m talking about the old green sofa’s that hand the huge green matching lamps all the way to the racks of clothing of my mom’s from the late 80’s!!
When my dad passed away a little over a year ago, my mom took the time and cleaned out the garages as well as some of the basement.
This was a great thing except that she also had a hard time throwing away items she said “someone could get some good use out of”!!

So what so you suppose she did with those items?!

She brought them over here to my house!! She would say if you don’t want it then maybe someone in Tom’s family could use it or …… okay the make me feel guilty line…..otherwise just throw it in the hole!!
By the way the “hole” is a HUGE hole out back that gets all the stuff that cannot be burned or rid of! In fact Tom has to remember where there are holes out here so when another one is made, you don’t dig up an old hole full of junk!! lol

Anyways the hole was starting to fill up as my mom hauled out stuff, suitcases that wouldn’t close, broken dressers, ol typewriters, things like that!
One day she brought over a couple of old exercise bikes. You know the really old ones from the early…..crap I have no idea what year!! lol
In all honesty I used the better one for a bit! The tension knob finally broke and besides my butt was sore from riding it anyway!! I used to just ride on it while I read a couple chapters out of a book at night, but that came to a stop when Tom said that I needed to do that while he was at work! I guess the squeaking of the wheels every time the wheels turned drove him crazy while he tried to watch television!! lol

Finally the bike joined the rest of the stuff in the hole!

Now I cannot say how much of a time frame between me dumping the bike and for what happened next!!

One day I was over at Tom’s parents house when I happen to catch a glance at something familiar….the exercise bike!!
There right by the burn barrel sat the bike! I began to laugh!!
What the ….?!

So of course when I seen Larry, ( Tom’s dad ) at coffee time I asked about the bike. He exclaimed he had seen it in the whole a few days back as well as the other one, which I had no idea he even had dug out!
Taking a quick glance at Shirley ( Tom’s mom ) she had that look of disgust!! She on the other hand believed that if there is no use for something just sitting around taking up room then get rid of it!! She also doesn’t care to much for junk to clutter her home anywhere, especially outside. She has put a lot of time and effort in making her property beautiful. But since there is no way of changing Larry around, they came to an agreement…..
Any items not being used at the moment or anything else to big to hide in the shop goes behind the white fence!!
The white fence is a tall nice looking fence that from the front of their home looks like nothing is behind it, but behind the fence is all of Larry’s treasure’s!! lol

Well would you like to know what he wanted the exercise bikes for?
Of course you would!!

Not for the use of the bikes for any exercise, but the pedals on the bikes he could use on something else he had. Another yet nicer and newer exercise bike I gave him a year ago that a friend gave away. He had just had stents for his heart put in and was trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle of diet and exercise!!
Like I said I am in no way making fun of anyone here, but the bike downstairs was collecting dust. But in case those pedals ever broke he had extra pedals to fix it with!!

So to Larry whom I adore more than anyone, I just smile with a giggle as I dedicate this blog to him!!
