This douch posted this to me. Obviously hasn't read anything else I wrote. His assumptions on my opinion of science are the exact opposite of what I have said. Here is his, then is mine.
The problem many of us have with your mentality is that you act as if science cannot be wrong and you post alist trying to prove that the majority of Christian scientist and even non-christian scientist believe in evolution. In fact you are way off base.
Anyone can provide a list of those who believe in anything. I could provide a list as long as yours. But nothing would be proved. As far as your "chritian" examples, there christianity is doubtful. You cannot call yourself a christian and believe in evolution. Same as an athiest cannot call himself and athiest and believe in God. Your problem is not what you believe in, it si that you believe the way you believe is the way everyone should believe. Same with many christians. They act as if God intended us to force our views on others. Just as you are obnoxious, many christians are.
And let me remind you of a few facts. Science has been proven wrong many times. There was a day science swore the earth was flat. Many scientist are struggling to maintian a grasp on global warming even as their fellow scientist are leaving the fold, we are seeing some of the coldest weather in years, etc. Science has even changed evolution and its fundementals over 120 times in the last 100 plus years. What you believe today is far from what it began as.
You have the right to believe as you want. As does everyone else. You are not the one who wa put here to enlighten us, now are we here ot enlighten you. But what I do see in you is fear. Every word out of your mouth shows that you fear our beliefs. You go out of your way to try to debunk what we believe in, but you have done nothing but show the fool you really are. You want your freedom to believe as you wish, but you are not willing to give that luxery to others. If we are wrong, no harm no foul, but if we are right, the harm will be great to folks like you.
You are a small man, hence Pity is all we have for you. Maybe instead of devoting your time to small nonsense, you should try to do something with your mouth and fingers other than trying to be a loudmouth know it all. So many ills in the world and you worry about what someone believes in. You sir are laughable at best!

Ahhh But I am not saying I am right. You sir, are confusing science with theism. Science proves itself wrong DAILY. I never, not once said science has never been wrong.
And if you see fear, you are reading the wrong blogs. Anger maybe. Disgust maybe. Fear? Hardly. I am at peace in knowing I know nothing. I am happy trying to learn as much as I can even though the end result is I still will be ignorant of things. So you take take the 'fear' comment (and here comes the anger :) and shove it up your ass.
I am a small man. Aren't we all? We are not unique, not special. So no score there for you there. I also think you misunderstand me when I discuse religion because I am not worried about different beliefs or offended by different opinions. That couldn't be further tha the truth. I am disgusted though about the actions caused by their beliefs. I'll give people liberty to believe what they want, but when abuse, brainwashing, war and other more horrible deeds are accpetted by the masses in the name of a 'god'. Then I have a problem with their beliefs. I don't want fairy tales taught in school, hence I have to be involved to prevent it. I don't want this country to become a religious mouthpiece for Christianity, so I do what I can do prevent it. YOU deserve the pity. One for your lack of comprehension when reading and another for your blindness to the harms of religion. Get a history book sometime. Or grab a holy book from one of the many gods worshiped here and see what is taught to our children and how this leads to mistreatment of women, homosexuals and others, all done in gods name. Then we'll talk.
He also goes on to say moronic things like Christians can't believe in evolution....idiot. Global warming is a myth.......possible (as science always has the possibility to be wrong) but he's likely an idiot there too. He had the world is flat analogy backward. Scientists (Galilao) said it was round and that was considered blasphemy my the church and he was placed in house arrest until he died.
I am not trying to debunk beliefs. They are already debunked!!!! I am trying to inform people that we no longer need a god of the gaps to answer things. I don't need to prove the Bible is fake. Anyone can do it. Same with the Qa'ran and others. The idea of GOD itself, affiliated with no religion, is the hard one to debunk. I can never prove he doesn't exist and vice versa.
But I am still looking. And learning. And hopefully, someday, I'll figure it out. Doubtful though, but until then, I'll go with the no god viewpoint :)

And your point is what???? Got tired of loosing in your other post so you start a new one. And again you are wrong. Yes the church confined him to house arrest but it had nothing to do with the flat or round argument. Again with lack of knowledge comments.
Copernicanism and heliocentrism were the reasons he was imprisoned and neither had anything to do with the earth being flat or round. In fact Galileo was not the first one to believe in a round earth nor was the church against the idea.
Aristotle in 330 BC was one of the first recognized persons who said the earth was round. Homer in 7th or 8th BC was another. Eratosthenes in 240 BC was yet another. Ptolemy in the 2nd century was another. The list goes on. Long before Galileo many were moving to a round earth and so was the church.
Just as in the other post, you do not know what you are talking about. Again you lay claim to things that are not true. Get your fact straight, quit using silly websites for your info, and do a little research before you open your mouth, Then and only then, you might get a few things right!
By the way, our beliefs are far from being debunked. Have no clue where you get they are because the only place they are debunked is in your own mind. I got to quit though, you are way to easy. I am going to go now and find someone who actually know what they are talking about! That way I can actually have a debate or conversation with someone who knows a few things. Man you must be tired of being shown how little you know by now!
Whats wrong freethinker, not so fun when a person comes to your area and belittles you huh. Not so great when you have to deal with this is it? Maybe you will quit coming to peoples posts and threads who are simply trying to express their views and starting trouble. Probally not, but it is worth hoping. Maybe next time you decide to click on the christian section of the blogs or go into the christian area of the forums, to mess with people who you do not know nor have ever said a word to you, maybe you will think twice.
You talk alot of crap with very little knowledge, you say you respect everyones views but hate the trouble some cause. You are no different than those you claim to hate so much. But although it will probally have little effect on your simple mind, I will try anyway. You claim you have no problem with christians, only despise their beliefs and hate those who cause pain and suffering in christianities name. Well I doubt one chrsitian on here has killed in Jesus's name, started a crusade in the name of God, etc. SO LEAVE THEM ALONE. I never came to your threads till you started crap in mine. If you want respect you have to give it. Because if anything, you cause more issues and division than any christian does. And many, MANY a christian has died at the hands of people with views like yours. Does not give us the right to lump you in with those people. You dog your father on here and go out of your way to try to embarrass him. Why, did he spank you too hard, did he make a few mistakes, did he not always do right by you. Actually I hadn't come into this blog since posted.
I know I won't end Christianity, but I hope to see it as low as it can go before I clock out :) It won't be difficult either. the actions of religious zealots all over the world are shaking people from their slumber. Awakening them to not believing in god at all if not the possiblities that the main religions are shit and making them look elsewhere for a crutch.
And for someone claiming to have knowledge in all things jesus and evolution, you are pretty unimpressive. Second, your beliefs are already debunked. That's it. Finished. The only thing you have to rely on is the magical word 'faith'. Like a toy get out of jail free card, fanatics and sheep alike use this when they are unable to prove anything. Your lack of knowledge of Biology, Astronomy etc. keep you from persuading anyone with your 'anti-evolution' lunacy. HOW can a person who thinks we came from a magical handful of mud, in a SINGLE day, be taken seriously????? They can't. Wise up and head back to your temple of stupidity and insanity. Go ask the almighty to provide a single speck of evidence for us 'oh so in need of prayer' heathens. Or fuck off. And take jesus with you. And I don't look up Christians. They look up me. I came in here because my dad was making ignorant claims about evolution (ie. fossil record gaps lol) and he refferred to my past as if it was something I should be ashamed of. I thought it was a rather rude way of getting his point across, especially by emailing me the link to read it.
Wow, I saw both of you guys posting in my blog and I wondered why you have such disdain for each other... I guess I can see why.
Honestly though, both science and christianity have wonderful things to offer. I don't think they are mutually exclusive. I personally do not believe in a God, nor do I attend church. One can see my bias as a woman of science, but I still respect many of the Christian citizens of the world.
Christianity can offer hope and often promotes good works. This is what society needs at this point. There is too much poverty, violence, and general degradation of life. Some people generate their own values and ethics, others need or want more concrete structure- this is where religion often finds its niche.
Unfortunately, there are those which do not recognize religion as a "faith". Those who are fundamentalist often forget that religion is a faith, they take everything as fact, hard and true. They do not worry so much as to the quality of life of others, as much as they value upholding the book they worship. This is where religion scares me. These people forget Jesus's purpose, to promote love and forgiveness, to provide guidance. Instead, they focus on things irrelevant to the present and the harmonization of the human race. They focus on conversion, our archaeic past, belittling those of differing faiths, minorities in the population, and only promote good works as a way into heaven.
Good works are essential. Even as a non-believer, I still provide for my community and help those in need. That is what needs to happen. You guys need to let go of your differences, stop insulting each other, and just realize that you're different and have different opinions on some "controversial" topics.
No worries. That guy lives in a world of his own. No more retors for me. Hopefully some good dicsussion with a few people who practice their faith, but religious posuers like that will be deleted as soon as they are received. Freethinker, you posted after me to refute something I wrote. You were attempting to be insulting and refutative. While that is alright with me, you do come off rather abrasive, often. you referred to the rocky as "a douche" that's rather an offensive term to millions and millions of women. I am not offended, but many are...My point is... you don't seem to realize your anger is 'aimed' at others. You seem not to realize you swing it at human targets like a ball bat. I do not find most peoples anger to be much more than the right to free speech. Religion kills you are right in that. But dear friend not all people of faith are 'religious'.
The tide in America is turning the liberalism that has nearly done in this country is slowing, and will be abandoned by many. The awakening you speak of is at hand but it won't be the good hearted, the generous, the religious, the intellectual. or any label of person who will bring it about. It will be the language of love. Not sissy love, but strong radical invincible love. The kind torture and death cannot undo. The way friend I love you and all humans. Brother and sister humans. Not a bleeding heart, not 'liberal' but liberated, unconfined love.
If douche is an offensive term, they sould change the brand name. :)
I also agree, and have said many times that not all or even most of the faithful are devotely 'religious'. The possibility for them to become one remains and history has shown time and time again then when the mobs rise, there seems to be no rationalists to hold them back, for they are on the pyre themselves.
Believe it or not, though I despise the human race and the cruelty and blind ignorance of it amongst other things, I have a hope. A slim one. That we can rise above that. Some of us are good people. Who will stand up in a mob of people with death on their minds and say "STOP THIS MADNESS". Maybe the tide will turn and these rationalists and brave souls who have honor and know what is right from from wrong not because a book or a man on a pulpit tells them, but because they know it in their hearts what it is to be good.
Like I said in my into, I am far from pefect. I am a total shit to be honest. But I am trying, each day. To be better. To be that man that yells that cry amongst a crowd full of bloodlust.
