question about photo comments/rating

Is there a way to comment on your own photos w/ out having to rate it? For example, someone left me a picture comment and I wanted to write a quick response. However I just noticed that the drop down ranking menu is set to default at 3. I don't want to rank my own photo..I just want to respond. Is this possible? Am I missing something?

Also, to all of the people whose photos I commented on....sorry about giving you a ranking of 3 stars, lol. Like I said...I just now noticed the ranking system.

Most people dont bother using the rating system Ryan. That only gives you a rating number anyway. The best way to 'rate' is to say what you think of a post or photo. Words are better than numbers.

Oh i agree...it just feels kind of funny to rank my own photos. Something else...I wish that there was some way we could be notified of new photo comments. I plan on uploading pics as often as I write blogs, and ultimately I will have hundreds of photos uploaded. Unless I'm missing something, we have to manually click on each one of our photos to find out if there are any new comments.

this was a flaw with the original system.

we are relaunching thoughts.com very soon. once we launch the new site, comments and ratings will be seperated as they should be.

in addition, there will be a comment notification feature making it easy for you to find new comments no matter where you are in the site

hang in there for another week or so

in the next month or two we will also be adding a bulk file upload feature for photos so you can upload an entire photo album with one step. this will be a great new feature as well, but will come a little after the new site launch
