Default Republican Winner

I thoroughly enjoyed the results of yesterday's face-off in Jersey

Would anybody like to give an assessment as to why the upset?

Low turnout, anything can happen.

Greater Atlanta, Georgia has a population of over 7 million people, yet yesterdays Atlanta Mayoral race garnered less than 100,000 total votes.

That, my friends, is how you define apathy.

All of the above and perhaps many in the public took for granted that those states voted blue in in the presidential campaign so figured it would go that way again, for example Virginia was blue last November.

I would seriously think that any candidate would be better off having NO endorsements from incumbents of EITHER party. At least you could distance yourself from them that way!

I've often thought of that very thing. If I were a candidate wanting to bring meaningful "change" to government I'd not want an already entrenched in the 'old ways' bombing my parade with an endorsement, i.e. the possible kiss of death

LOL...i agree. its like with kids...sometimes the best thing you can do for them is nothing.
let them accomplish their goals without input ...many times unsolicited.

And it's been my experience (with 4 daughters, all grown) that they turn out much better and stronger that way!
