Default Racism Reaks

I am so sick of this. It happened on blogster almost daily and now I've ran across a post on here. Someone explain to me why people seem obsessed with the belief that conservatives are old white guys! I'm not, I may look white, but let's face facts; I'm a mutt. Why is there a need by some to group conservatives into one nice neat little package to hate? People let's face facts and I'm going to be blunt, possibly even insulting so if you can't handle it please do stop reading now.

I don't go around saying that all liberals are poor and black. I don't say all liberals are gay with little white dogs. IF I said those things I would be racist and a bigot. I don't even know what bigot means but it looks right. So, I am asking as politely as I can not to go around saying conservatives are white racists. Because quite frankly when you make statements like that it only makes you look like the racist you are.

MLK Jr. wished for us to be judged on the content of our character, not on the color of our skin. Yet, we seem to hide behind that skin color and anytime someone says something we don't like we scream racism as a battle cry. It's time to stop hiding.

The simple fact is that people have the right under our Constitution to be racists. However, today, we seem to only find it acceptable to be racist as long as the racism is directed towards a white man. If it's wrong, it's wrong. Buck up and take some responsibility for what you say; because, I, for one, will call you out on it.

I'll close this and welcome you comments with one last thought. If you don't like being grouped together, also called profiling, don't do it to other people as they won't like it either. Racism reaks no matter who's throwing the s***.

The "hate liberals" campaign from the right during the Clinton years pretty much set a precedent for what was to come from both sides. If you notice, new people that come here to this forum think it is appropriate behavior to belittle people's opinions and to call them names as a form of debate because that is what they see on TV and hear on the radio. Lumping people in any generality is a fool's game. The only people that are alike are the ones who strive to be alike.

The word racist is overused and abused. If you criticize Obama you are a racist. If you are against illegal immigration you are a racist. Look at what's going on with the current Supreme Court nominee. It's all ridiculous!

I'm too young for the Clinton years so I guess I'm just feeling a little angst at the moment. Your last sentence should be in quote books. I'm just as guilty as other at throwing hard balls when it comes to opinions, but I NEVER insult anyone based on their race I feel it would be rather hypocritical of me.

You're right, maybe we should all exercise our sense of humor more, but usually the term comes up in politics...politics always bring out the worst in people.

im still in high school and i can tell you that racism has evolved since MLK's years.
back then it mean segregation and leanch mobs
now it means gangs, ghetto, grouping people under various stereotypes etc.

still in some cases its just a big joke. people will make bad racist jokes and hispanics, whites, blacks, and asians will all crack up over it.

also, i dont think the republicans are necessarily being racist. i think that they are just attacking the democrats nominee out of reflex. not racial hatred

I believe most people of intelligence DO evaluate people by the content of their character. (I don't like to use the word 'judge') Those who are concerned about skin colour, religion, etc will not change their minds so the best thing is to ignore them. And yes, a sense of humor does help. When you laugh at yourself, others will usually stop laughing at you because they see they aren't hurting you.
