Jobs are still being lost here in Poogeyville... we have 3 prisons here...2 are closing. (bad thing there is that they are going to release any inmate not doing time for violent crimes)...

Yeah, different parts of the country are recovering faster than others. I still think that we need our manufacturing jobs back to have a steady economy. Wall Street in no way reflects Main Street.

Here in the DC area, there are lots of service related jobs and/or high-end 6-figure jobs. The middle class (whatever that means these days) seems to be lost in the shuffle.

I'm doing ok in my job but I'm also easily working 10-12-hr days and doing the work of more then one as a measure of our company's cost containment. Unemployment affects people in many different ways.

And for Allergy Woman, congrats to your husband. That is truly great news.

Having never studied poetry of the colonial Mexican/Spanish period, I don't think I can claim any relationship with Sister Joanna. I do agree with her, however, in that women have as much right to be educated as do men. Thank you for leading me to her. She was a brilliant woman, as far as I can see.

No, Paddy, mine was more an oblique allusion to the cycle of re-birth out of the ashes of fire--and an old professor's comment.

why are you so thin?

I hope you take your vitamins, as well.
