But, no, I don't think that world deserves to burn because of us, but i do think that we need to die, disappear, or whatever and leave our natural (now unnatural, thanks to our kind) world alone. We are killing it, examples: pollution, landfills, a now limited oil supply, slash & burn of trees in the rain-forests.

Face it, we just need to die and let our world grow. We've damaged it way too much, if we leave and find another planet, though, we would just have to leave it too because we would be killing it at sometime. I think it better that we all just die.

Oh my god, are you crazy? Sacrifice the human race for the earth's nature?? WHY? To save animals and vegetation that don't do anything in their lives? At least humans have intelligent thought. We innovate and create. We THINK. We convert complex abstract concepts into physical reality. That's WAY more than anything else on this planet can boast.

Sure, you're right, we need to give more thought to keeping this earth clean and alive. But seriously, at the expense of HUMANS? HELL NO. We are the highest evolved species on this planet. But if we really DO care about it, if it really DOES bother us, then the logical question is: What can I do about it? I agree that the situation often seems hopeless, and the answers so unattainable that feelings of apathy and an attitude of "Screw it---we're too far gone for salvation. I'm just going to pull up a seat and enjoy the show." are a natural way to feel. But I also feel that if the entire planet were to adopt such a defeatist attitude. . .well, the end would just be that much closer and that much fireier. But it begs the question: what CAN we do? As single individuals, how can we hope to affect the whole in any kind of meaningful way?

Ok, and now, to be perfectly honest, it isn't hard to get on the hysteria band wagon these days. There are more than a few here who are predicting the end of the world. It happens all the time, when humans are in crises...some fall apart, some run around warning others that the end is near, and some do something to fix it. I know you don't know me, but my information is much different than yours...and I would say mine is more corroborated than just my observations, my gut feeling, and my biased opinions. So, try to make your ideas known, but don't play some hollywood drama on us...the s**t that is going down these days doesn't need cartoon perspectives...real solutions to real problems...if you aren't going to help, then just get out of the way...

I believe that the collaspe of the world is going to happen because right now the only thing people have is hope... hope doesnt cut it

People have hope that one day we will have peace, but guess what... we wont. As long as people are still people there will never be peace. Because there will always be another evil person waiting to take the reigns when another dies.. thats just the way it is... people are to greedy and power hungry for us to ever have peace... People dont realize this so they still hold on to hope... when that hope is gone they will give up... leaving the world to be taken over by whatever scum wants to.

And because we are headed downhill faster then anybody can stop.. and I dont mean in an economic way. People in general... there morals are failing because with all the sh*t thats in the world right now people start to think that morals no longer matter... they say hey that (insert famous idiot here) has no morals whay should I?

Because our society has glorified crime... how else do you explain the rise in school shootings... child molesters... rapists in general (they should all be executed imo)... these type of things are somewhat the media's fault is it not? if I go on a rampage... immediatly im famous... this is just another reason why wackjobs do those things.. to be famous because thay feel nobody cares about them unless there famous<----- thats the problem right there

Honestly, I hope I never have to find out what percentage of our nation has the inner fortitude to continue fighting once hope is lost. . . .I blame this primarily on a sense of entitlement and 'everything-should-be-easy' attitude that seems to be pervasive at times. Look, Joker, I understand where you are coming from, but i don't think your perception accurately reflects the true human spirit...You seem to think that everything has run amok and is not salvageable because of what you see. I contend that you are looking in the wrong places. Let's just take 9/11 for an example. No one in this country would dispute that New Yorkers can be a hard, tough, seemingly callous group...(not my opinion, but I live near there and I know better). When 9/11 happened, the people in the tri-state area, as well as all over this country and the world, came together in solidarity and rolled up their sleeves to help one another...It happened with the tsunami and Katrina and countless other human tragedies both natural and other-driven. I don't know where you live or what's going on there. I live in a community of well-educated, politically and socially enlightened people and there are a lot of us...We don't just have hope. We have the power to change things...whether it is through education, money, volunteerism, or personal committment. Our children are the products of that. We understand what has happened to this country and we understand the history and politics of it. We debate it in our homes, at the baseball games, in our churches and classrooms. We are not without hope. We feel empowered to make the changes necessary. We are not stockpiling guns and ammunition and water and canned goods and heading for the hills. Someone has to do the dirty job of cleaning things up and some of us are willing to do that. We recruit with knowledge, honesty, caring, hard work, sacrifice, and common sense. We count among us friends and family members who are in positions of verifying information so that we don't catastrophize everything...FBI agents, newspaper journalists, corporate executives, lobbyists, professors...people who bring varied perspectives and open minds to the discussions and debates. I am sorry you only see the negative crap that is spewed on TV and the attitude of people who have just plain given up because they don't know what else to do. I think you should do yourself a favor and maybe travel outside of your immediate surroundings and talk to all kinds of people and try to keep an open mind...(and I am not assuming you haven't). You may get a different mindset about the global state of affairs. Good is still overcoming evil...but we need participants, not observers.

I have no doubt, judging from your posts, that you have the strengh to push on... and yes there is people always willing to do risk everything to stop evil

But theres a difference between stoping a known enemy and stoping one that you know and trust... for example our own government

That changes the equation right when its somebody/something you trust because then the line between good and evil is blurred

The examples you gave me were all brave people fighting against a known enemy

What about an unknown enemy?...what if it comes to the point where we have to fight our own government.... how many people will be brave enough, if the time comes, to fight against the very thing they trusted?

God, you are so pessimistic. Human beings are REALLY flawed. But does that mean that we should all die? That we shouldn't deserve a chance to grow and evolve into a culture that's more focused on positive values than it is now? Of course not!

God, cut the human race some slack. We're always going to make mistakes. But we're also going to do a lot of good. There's as much productivity and compassion inside of us as greed and shallowness.
