Just what it says... I lived in Prague, Czech Republic for 6 weeks. Living in a foreign country definitely opens yours eyes to the realization that other cultures, even though they have different habits and traditions, are friendly and willing to learn about yours as well...
great experience... any others??:)

I've never lived in a foreign country, but I've always wanted to. I think it'd be so cool to experience a new culture that way.

Yes I lived in Okinawa Japan for thirteen years. nine year I was stationed there in the military and four years as a civilian. I worked for a Japanese construction company for two years. I'm married to an Okinawan lady and have been for thirty seven years.

During the time I lived there I was lived in the community with my wife, and then later with my wife and kids. It's a great place to live and the people are very friendly. Of course we still have family back there and so I plan to visit again.

Living there really did open my eyes to a different life style, but it was all good. I miss the island and all the beaches, wonderful food, and of course the people. :D

As a young boy my father was in the Army and we lived in Hong Kong and Germany. In my service I've visited loads of places but lived (that is on an accompanied post) in Germany, Cyprus, Brunei and Saudi. I lived in N Ireland for a total of 6 years (but I class that as the UK - although Paddy will disagree with me totally)

I've been here in the UAE for just over 2 years now.

I agree that travel really broadens the mind.

I knew you would bite mate. Actually though, much to the annoyance of the Irish guys, we used to call it Ireland (of which the standard reply was "don't you mean Northern Ireland").

I lived in Iraq for a year. But I guess it doesn't really count when it's on a military base.

I worked in Ethiopia in the late 80's early 90's due to the fact I was in charge of the supply C130's that came and went.

I lived in Northern Colombia for the same reason.

Even though technically it is a state, Hawaii could qualify as a foreign country.

Ive been to UK... half year and i don't want to go there again,,, jeez its just such a sh** place,, maybe i was in a wrong part but what i dislike was/is variety of cultures, INDIAN POLISH RUSSIAN and all of them u can meet all people but not English its strange and scaring ;d i was going through the street in i heard more Indian and Polish than ENGLISH,, for me going to another country is like willing to see culture and patterns of eg English people not all for all over the world. so that my opinion about that particular part of england,,

I envy you. That is the type of work I wish to get into one day. I'm undergoing flight training at the moment, and C130's have been my dream aircraft for years. I'm currently trying to volunteer with an agency somewhere in Africa.

Have you ever ridden in a C-130? The entire time the thing is in the air it sounds and feels like it is trying to shake itself into little pieces!

Southern France and Northern Italy. Beautiful places. If I had the money, I would most definitely live there again. The lifestyle is friggin expensive. Guess for now good ol Canada will just have to do eh. :D

Five years in Italy and only picked up by the Carabinari once :)

I could run pretty fast back in the day :D :p

You don't need to be fast to outrun the Carabinari...................they are not known for thier enthusiasm on a foot chase..............even better in a mini (have you seen the Italian Job - not that crap american version but the real one?).

I've jumped out of one. Always hated the noise in a C-130 (we called them Hercs - never C-130s) and I hated crawling over the netting to go for a p**s.

I went on one of the C-17s that the US loaned us - that was heaven compaired to a Herc. You could even get your "Doss Bag" out and spread out...................ah memories eh!

MattV

"Hercules" was the name assigned to the C-130. Hence the nickname "Herc".

See the kind of useless little tidbits of information I have clogging up my brain? There are millions of 'em! No wonder I fail to get ahead in life!

I married a Spanish guy and we were living together in Madrid for 3 years. When I arrived in Spain I didn't know one word in Spanish language (Castellano). Learning Spanish was hard but wonderful. Getting to know a new place is an amazing adventure. Looking back on it, I believe it was one of the constitutive events of my life. Madrid is wonderful! :)

I hope you will find Germany a better place to live than Afghanistan.

Ansbach, at any rate, is a fine small city.

About myself: I have lived in Dundee, Scotland, for some time. And I enjoyed walking in the Highlands. :)

wow it seems like a lot of people are coming to Germany lately ^^
I hope you'll enjoy it here.
Ansbach isn't too far from me away. It's a nice old city (founded around 750 ad I think). There are some awesome historic buildings too. :)

I never lived in another country, but I sure hope to experience that one day.
