Sandpaper fear and the pain it causes loved ones

I need thoughts and opinions regarding the fear of sand and/ or sandpaper. I've been friends with someone for the last year who is physically effected by the feel of sandpaper beyond the normal realms of response.

You could chase them around the house with a nail file. I honestly wish I was joking but this individual has OCD when it comes to sand as well. Obsessively washing their hands if they come into contact with sand or sandpaper.

If you have suggestions on how to help them, I'd greatly appreciate it. It'd make going to the beach a lot more fun.

I know people that have similar problems with feeling textured objects. There is one thing that may help.

Tell your friend to wear some gloves. The thin rubber ones can be worn in warm weather. Not the medical gloves(they won't last long).
