You know, I am by no means very spiritual, or very in tune with the things around me. It is more like I live in a place where I briefly get to interact with those things and then I am back to what I was before. Which leads me to wonder exactly what I am. Am I a good "person"? Do I treat others well? Do I help without having to be asked? Do I want those people around me to succeed? Am I happy? Do I really offer a positive contribution to the world? Am I attempting to make my life better? Does interacting with me benefit anyone?
You know I honestly don't have an answer to most of these questions. I think I was the "bad" friend in school. The friend that you snuck in and saw the "R" rated movie with. The friend that you got your piercing with. The friend that you stayed up with all night drinking and then called into work sick the next day. That one person that hung out with the person everyone else shunned. I guess I like being on the outside. I want to be the exception.

I think the fact that you asked the question contradicts your assertion that you aren't spiritual. By virtue of wondering, I think you are in touch with a spiritual side of which you may not be aware. And while it is true that the situations you describe (sneaking into movies, getting drunk, etc.) may not all be the healthiest choices, I would make the assertion that those who chose to do them with you were benefited by interacting with you.
A line from a Caedmon's Call song comes to mind when reading your post. It reads, "I love anonymity and I love being noticed, just the same as anybody else". We are all on the outside of one clique and on the inside of another. We all strive to be someone - and to be different. I think it is important for us to just become comfortable with who we are and not pay attention to where we fit in regards to others. There is no "outside" and "inside" unless we define them for ourselves. We all view ourselves as exceptions in our own mind. It is part of what makes us human. But trying to define ourselves as an outsider or unique or an exception just puts us smack in the middle of another group.

Well said, caryandemily!:) Yes, by questioning spirituality, you often are simply at the crossroads. If you choose to take the dark path...well, good luck. If you choose the light--dare you be one of THOSE good people(rolls eyes):)--then you can walk with me maybe:) I just dont want to end up in the dark no matter how tempting it is. But, I am far from "perfect" and ask myself all those very same questions.
Breathe.

It doesn't matter if your good or bad you still make an impact on the world. As long as people know your here, its good.
Every experience is good, so if you give some one a bad experience they have learnt something. Therefore its good!
If you are a horse, you'll always be a good friend.

There is no 'googd' or 'bad' labl for a person. Sure as society changes the qualifications change, in one year you couldbe a great guy owning ten negros or inanother time you could be 'bad' for sharing the same bedroom as your wife.
Times change and just do the best you can, worrying about what people think of you and ESPECAILLY how you view yourself is a waste of time. I don't siscrive to spirutuality but I can appreciate the wonders (and clusterfucks) of nature around me. Enjoy each moment and don't give a shit whther you fall into one category or another.
Some people say I am a bad person because I swear. I could help thousands of peoples build homes and feed homeless but they judge me on swearing. Fuck em. It is all in the eye of the beholder and you only need to worry about your own, comprende!
