 Speaking to Listeners
The LORD then stood beside Samuel and called out
as He had done before, "Samuel! Samuel!"
"I'm listening," Samuel answered. "What do you want me to do?"
1 Samuel 3:10

_if God hears prayers and listens to what we asks of Him, then how come some prayers were unanswered and some cries do not receive any response? have you had all your prayers answered? or has any of your prayers were answered? if you talk to me and i did not respond, does it implies i do not exist? or if i replied and you did not hear what i say, would you consider me unreal?

_waiting for answers when we pray is always the same as waiting for someone else's respond after talking. under favorable conditions, communication is of four parts, the sender, the medium used to convey the message, the recipient and the feedback. any distortion from these four basic components would impaired communication. when you call to God in prayer, you are the sender of the message, the prayer was the medium used and God is the recepient of your message. often, we wait for God to answer by yes, wait or no. but why does it always seems that God's response is delayed? do our communiction with God work normally these way? i guess not.

_God speaks to whose hearts are open and mind is free. He speaks to those whose heart yearns for reply and whose mind is empty and not preoccupied. He talks to those who are humble, focused and are willing to obey. why would you tell someone what to do when you know that he will not do it anyway? why would you waste time talking to someone who is not interested for your opinion? and why would you want to talk to someone who do not let you talk? God wanted to talk to Samuel but Samuel was so young to understand and realise that God is talking to him. he knew Eli but not God. maybe one main reason why God isn't talking back to you is because you are talking to a "god" and expecting a "God" to answer you. know first the "God" you are talking to.

_God answers through His Word, the Bible, through circumstances, through other people and sometimes, direct to you. but be careful not to be a ventriloquist who puts words in God's mouth. God speaks from His own knowledge and needs no help from you. you are just to listen, pay close attention and be receptive. do you read your Bible? are you observant? do you ask your fellow believers?

_God talks. God speaks. God answers. do you listen?
