Give your ear, and hear my voice; listen, and hear my speech. Isaiah 28:23

_listening is putting off in your ear whatever is around you that distracts you away from who or what you are listening into. it is not merely same like looking her in the eyes, appearing to be focused and answers blankly when asked what was your opinion on her story. basically listening is hard and it takes patience to practice most especially when you don't feel like listening. listening is focusing on the sound you want to hear and giving attention to it as if it is the only sound around.

_eliminating other sounds other than that that you want to hear is not so easy to do. often we chose a place not so noisy to facilitate listening better. we cannot fully understand what we want to hear when we are distracted. what we get are just pieces and when recalled often gives another meaning to what was originally said.

_our heart listens to those we lend our ears. most of what we hear are stored in it and is used for reference. who do you listen to? what you are fond of listening to? one man said, what we put inside makes us up. are those that you listen to making you healthy? happy? satisfied? are those that your ears received worth keeping by your heart?

_listening facilitates learning and eventually living. when God spoke to Isaiah He stressed listening as same as "giving your ear" to Him. that is exactly what He wants us to do; to give Him our ears and listen to Him, and to Him alone. yes, it is not all the time as in always. yet, listening to Him is something you just can't do when you have experienced Him through listening. listening to God is something different than the conventional listening. usually, we quiet those around us so we can listen. when we listen to God, we silence ourselves and let His small voice be heard by our heart, not by our ears. God has something to say! would you listen?
