 Dealing with Despair
Why am I discouraged?
Why am I restless?
I trust you!
And I will praise you again because you help me,
and you are my God.
Psalm 43:5

_not anyone is free from disappointment that could lead one to depression and eventually to despair. in this state of extreme discouragement, one always thinks he is alone, that noone cares and loves him and that his life does not matter at all. don't you wonder why we think this way when long before this sadness is, you are cared, loved and is a someone to others. is it still our human nature that do not mature made us forget and be unmindful of what our good past is?

_David, even he's the man closest to God's heart, had extreme sadness ang longing for joy. he had it after his marital affair. as a consequence of his sin, he suffered emotionally. it hurt him so much that he cried, mourn and despair. he was a king, the highest among his nation yet he feels so alone and rejected. but he did not let loneliness eat him alive and make his life worthless. he dealt with it and succeeded.

_first, David cried. chapters 42 and 43 of Psalm has a common theme, David's despair. how he felt and how much he was hurt. also is described how his pain was and how he regret doing such sin. he cried and pour out his heart to God. he expressed his pains and angst and was not afraid to called weak. he showed what he feels real and did not keep it for himself. he cried. he expressed. he let out what he has to let out.

_instead of seeing where he was and what he had at present, David chose to recall good things that happened. the grace he had and the mercy he experienced. he remembered the blessings that he was bestowed and the opportunitties he do not deserve. instead of burrowing himself in the mudpit of pain and despair, he chose to revive the smile in him. he chose to praise God, as it will please God and will somehow make his burden a little lighter. when in the dark, we can chose to imagine dark creatures and scare ourselves or see the light that it about to come.

_he prayed. David prayed. he did not just act on himself but he first consult his Master and recognized God's wisdom is still supreme than his. he prayed and asked God for knowledge that he may make it out of the dungeon of despair. instead of panicking and trying to solve his problem, he knelt and humble himself. God did not disappointed him.

_after he prayed, he had faith that there will be good endings. he did not let others to control him but had faith to the One he knew is much powerful and is in control. he trusted God more than his advisers and believed that He will do much more better outcomes than they will. David trusted God for something bright.

_deal with despair like David.
