We have not stopped praying for you since the first day we heard about you. In fact, we always pray that God will show you everything he wants you to do and that you may have all the wisdom and understanding that his Spirit gives. Colossians 1:9
_often when we pray, we ask God to do what we want Him to do for us. we want Him to provide things for us, do tasks for us and sometimes, erase hardships that are for us. we plea for grace and so much grace that we almost forget who are we talking to. yes, because of so much requests and favors we are asking, often, when we pray, we are making God a vendo-machine whom will dispose everything we need or we think we need instead of being the supreme Being whom created us. we crumble so much as if He does not know what He's doing to us. we mumble a lot as if He is not in control of everything.
_unlike us, Paul prayed something different for him and for the "Colossian church". instead of asking God to lift them from persecution and hardships, he ask God to fill them with wisdom, understanding and knowledge that they may know what they have to do. it is a personal request but is not commanding God to let go of control over their lives but be much more in control. they were so humble that even in pain, they know were their devotion is to whom.
_when we pray, let us remember that God has already planned our lives and need not our ideas to change it. let us think over things we asking and wanting God to do for us. instead of pleading for what we think will be good for us, let us ask God things that He think is best for us. let us not be so selfish that we want to control everything, including God just to have those we want most. let us strive for something eternal and not just material. let us pray for something that is Godly and not selfishly.
_when we pray, do not use God, instead, be used by Him!
