Ah, resolution time - can't you smell it in the air (literally - everyone’s on an exercise regime now and sometimes it smells ripe in my office…thanks 2008)? I'm not a big fan of resolutions. I'll make up the odd one or two for when people ask on January 1st and 2nd. Often times I’m still in the foetal position from New Years, so I’ll pull out the odd groan and “I’ll never drink again”. This year I went for a slightly different approach. I’d like to have a few external changes because my 2007 basically sucked for a variety of reasons. This includes, but is not limited to, deaths in the family, terrible break-up leading to stalking and emails calling me many fancy adjectives, roommates that don't work out, a terrible apartment (including a variety of “wild life” in the kitchen), and classes that make me want to change my major, and girl drama that makes me wonder why I bother having friends at all. So as I start sobering up on the 1st, my only hope for the new year was not to be a better, kinder person, not to be a newly created exercise bunny, but rather it was a hope for a better (and perhaps terrific) 2008. As for resolutions, they are passé in my books and I have none - I'm young, I'll give up the things, habits, and actions I like that are none too healthy when I'm older.

You're absolutely right. My 2007 sucked major as well...but keep saying..2008 is going to be great. Each day is a new opportunity to begin anew.
