Escape
Isn’t that what we all want? To escape?
Isn’t that what entertainment is—an escape from reality—the everyday, the monotone, the constant drumming of the demands of life and people and relationships? A movie is an escape to a world full of decisions we do not have to make, energy we don’t have to spend, danger that does not threaten us with death. A book is the same—even though it takes a little more mental effort than a movie, it’s still another channel out of reality.
I’m not saying that escape is a bad thing. I love video games, books, and movies. All I’m saying is that we should be careful, in our entertainment-crazed society, not to let escape become the thing that we live for.
Think about it.
