 Suuuuuunday
What’s better than a lazy Sunday after a long run? A Ryan Reynolds marathon on Comedy Central.
This morning’s run started at Jack & Adam’s and went on a 6 mile loop around Town Lake. Since most of the trail is in the shade, it made for a relaxing workout. Unfortunately, around mile 4, my left Achilles started cramping up and for a while I was running with a numb foot. I reluctantly stopped to stretch then started up again when my coach caught up with me. We finished the course and while my foot didn’t go numb again, it was still cramping. There’s slight bruising right where it was hurting, so hopefully it doesn’t happen again. I get a little restless on days off.
While yesterday’s bike ride seems to have defeated me, I have to keep reminding myself that I went farther than I ever have before.
If any of you in Austin were up before noon, you might have seen the hoards of cyclists around town. The Urban Assault race took place this morning and I found the whole thing fascinating.

The Urban Assault Ride™ is funky bike scavenger hunt that involves street-smart riding, obstacle courses, and a huge after party. Mental muscle is just as important as bike skills as teams of 2 choose their own course to checkpoints around the city.

The event is well known for its checkpoints where physical and mental obstacle courses must be completed before moving on. Kinda like American Gladiators with a demented cycling twist. The first team to hit all of the checkpoint and cross the finish line wins! Then the party begins with FREE BEER and lots more two-wheeled shenanigans!

It is THE MOST FUN you will ever have on a bike.

Austin, TX: Sunday June 22nd

Good 'ol Austin...where the UAR was born and bred. This event is huge - the biggest in the series and it just gets bigger each year. June in Austin is always nice and warm, but we always find ways of cooling you off. The obstacles are always creative and this year will be a bit more 'physical'. The ledgendary after-party will include the famous final obstacle, Rio Grande tacos, New Belgium Beer, Smoothie King smoothies, and Sweet Leaf Tea. This event will sell out - so grab a teammate and get signed up!
