 So this is me...
So this is me...

After a good long teenhood of internet use I have finally decided to do the blog thing.
As I write I sit alone in the spare room of the house I share with my (lovely) fiance.
He is probably on the way to Andalucia, Spain.

Who is this blog for? Well, its for me - I suppose writing has always been my friend, and its for you - whoever you may be - I'll probably not tell anyone about myself as the 'dualist', but in choosing to become the dualist I am really meaning that the every day me, the medium height, medium build, mid-length mid-brown haired, infant school teacher from York that is the every day me, can just be forgotten for a little while.

So I'm a teacher, and I feel pretty average - maybe this blog could be my inner-quest to be not-so-average.
Being average means that I dont stand out. Thats not such a bad thing, but it kind of means that when I want to wear red socks I so often open the draw to only find gray.

Gray socks.
I am not a gray sock - am I?

Some things I like that mean I cant really be a gray sock:
funny children - telling jokes with five year olds
all kinds of music
travelling and going on trips
learning new things to teach other people (not just five year olds)

Some mornings I wake up and want to change who I have been forever. To wake up and be a red sock. When youre wearing red socks theres no mistaking that youre wearing red socks - but, the best part about wearing red socks under trousers, is when someone thinks they see youre wearing red socks, and catches a flash when you cross your legs or walk across the staffroom to make another round of coffee.

Black trousers and red socks. Thats who I feel I really could be. Not-so-average really. Black sensible durable smart-casual trousers that say 'Yes I do know where the Accident Book is, and yes I will fill it in', or 'I know that your child has not done any reading at home this week, what are you going to do about it next week?' Black trousers that match up with the person on the outside I feel i really should be.  But with red socks under those black trews - well, thats just me.

I dont actually own any red socks though.
I am sometimes just a gray sock. I wish that everyday I could wake up and be a red dress!
actually.. some days I do wake up and am glad to be a gray sock - when i'm feeling hungover (a rare thing)
or sad (not so rare these days) and when I really am glad to fade away.

Tonight I am going to a salsa dance class. it is the second class I have been to. At the first class I wasnt allowed to dance with the other dancers as I had to have a separete lesson with some awful skanky council mum and daughter pair. daughter had to take her shoes off and was so upfront and loud we were all embarrased. mum was away with the fairies - flowy skirt and hoopy earrings. Daughter kept saying cringably
'oooh, I saw them do this on Strickly Come Dancing'.

I have never enjoyed watching Strickly Come Dancing.
I am fully aware of it's presence on British TV and I dont give a shit.
I am not going to salsa dancing because I've been watching Strickly Come Dancing every Saturday night for the past 12 weeks.

So I will end this first blog - totally unsure of what I've just written. Althought somehow socks come into it??

I am sure it will make sense to someone

R
