Watch Those Gutters!
Hi all! Another week has gone by, and it's time for the Dream Team blog to touch on another important topic: Gutters!
You all know what gutters are, I hope - they protect your home from rainstorms by guiding the water away from the house, where it would otherwise soak in and cause mold. But there are many dangers to your gutters that you should know about - and how to solve them.
Problem: Gutters are clogged, water isn't running properly.
Solution: Call Dream Team for an expert gutter cleaning. Additionally, you can ask your technician to provide you an estimate for gutter guards, which will prevent debris from falling in ever again. It's cheap, it's quick, and it's a lot safer than you doing it yourself. We maintain our equipment consistently, and we make sure our techs are fully aware of all safety procedures involved in gutter cleaning.
Problem: Gutters are hanging or off-angle, causing water to go outside of the downspout.
Solution: Call Dream Team, who will come out and give you a free estimate to replace your gutter hooks. Again, there is a significant safety issue if you, the homeowner, find yourself up on the roof. Your gutters require a great deal of knowledge and are located in a precarious location. We are professionals, who have been doing this for over 10 years.
Problem: Gutters look bent, downspouts look damaged, or there are holes in any part of the system, causing a leak into your home.
Solution: Call Dream Team now for a free estimate on repairing your gutters and downspouts - before the leak extends into your roof!
Last week, we talked about roof leaks and water damage, and this seems like a perfect place to pick it back up. Remember that your gutters are usually located at a pretty dangerous spot on your roof - that is, right near the edge. If anything happens there during a storm and your gutters overflow just a bit, water can and will get into your home. You would normally think nothing of this, but let's step back and think for a moment. What carved out the Grand Canyon? That's right, water. If water is allowed into your roof, it may get into your walls or siding, warping them, eroding them, and then eventually causing catastrophic damage to the entire structure of your home.
Beyond that, it's also bad for your health. Mold does not just grow on bread - it grows anywhere and everywhere it can, spreading dangerous spores that can kill you, or give your children asthma, if given the chance. Bad gutters can end up causing a bad situation in your house and danger to your family. It's amazing just how much you can prevent with a professional gutter clean - and Dream Team is just a phone call away!

April Showers?!
Well, we didn't get that much rain in April this year, but we've seen a lot of downpour here in the NY Metro area this May. Rain is necessary, we all know that - it provides water for our lawns, gardens, and the natural plants around us; and it provides us with drinking water. Water is a wonderful thing, and covers 70% of our little blue marble.
But when it hits our homes, there can be trouble. A lot of it, actually. You may not even be aware of your roof leaking, and that's even more dangerous. An untreated roof leak can eventually damage the entire structure of your home and leave you and your family (very literally) out in the cold. Here at Dream Team, we want to do everything in our power to stop that from happening. So, here are some signs that you should call us.
Putting it more emphatically: If you see any of these signs, call Dream Team immediately at 888-382-2001!
The first sign that your roof might leak is if you see spots and discoloration on your ceilings, standing water, or mold. For instance, if your bathroom floor has a puddle, take a look at your ceiling above the water. Search for water spots and soft spots upwards, where the ceiling might sag. This is one of the most common signs of leakage, and one of the easiest to spot. Dampness on or in a ceiling or wall is also a potential symptom of a roof leak. If you see missing or broken shingles on your roof, call Dream Team immediately for a repair because those empty spots could allow moisture to collect and puddle, then soak through and become a dangerous leak.
While these are not the only signs of a leaking roof, they are both the most common and the easiest to spot. Your roof protects your home and family - let Dream Team protect your roof.
