sometimes life isn't meant to go our way. sometimes you just have to grit your teeth and accept the inevitability of it all, the inescapable fact sometimes your best friend won't take your advice; that he'll throw himself into a dead end relationship. sometimes you have to sit with him at night and listen to him beat himself up over a girl that's not worth it, the same girl that left him broken once before. sometimes you have to sit patiently and quietly, while he willingly gives his heart away to her. you have to wait and watch her build him up, watch him trip over himself to string together the perfect combination of words that you know won't mean enough to her. and when he comes crashing down, from the greatest, most dangerous high of his life, you have to be his shoulder to lean on, and bite your lip to keep the words i told you so from spilling out. remember the times she hurt you, kid. remember how broken she left you. remember the feelings of guilt at night, wondering what you did wrong, what you could've / should've done. forget the good times, because who remembers the good times? the times worth remembering are the sleepless nights, tossing and turning; the turning, sinking feeling of your stomach when she told you she didn't want you anymore. remember the desperation you felt, how much of a failure you felt. remember the bad times, kid. then remember who helped you heal.
