Today I start my daily work, not as a clerk, like before,
Instead as a cashier or a griller, but of course with a quirk.
Everyday I walk into the restaurant I’ll be expecting a bore,
So instead of submitting willfully to my own cacophonous snore,
I’ll be eating it about thirty minutes before
To restrain the mindless work from making me go utterly berserk.
I only hope it doesn’t make me fall down on the floor
Because then I’d have to find new daily work,
And surely no other way of work would entail such an exhilarating perk—
Not a duty, not a chore, certainly nothing I abhor.
But no matter how hard I try to make myself ignore,
When it comes down to it I can’t, because there’s nothing more I adore. |
