GOD PLANTS-EM
You see them everywhere - usually in populated areas. Some are
tall and thin. Others are short and old. Some are white. Some are black. Some
even mixed race. One thing they all share though – they don’t dress well.
Typically dirty looking – many wearing more coats than the temperature calls
for – but only so they won’t have to carry the extra clothing – having no place
to put it. I’m talking of the homeless.
It has always been my
opinion – that these people are “plants” of God’s. No...not the kind that go in
the ground and grow – but more in line with -people God puts in front of us to “test us” – to see what we’re going to do. See if
we’re going to help. That’s what He wants us to do – you know – help. His Word tells
of this in too many places to list. Help those unfortunate. Help those who need
us. Us who know Him. Us who are His. That is what we’re suppose to do: help
others who REALLY need our help.
In the area where I reside
– there’s a town that permits people to stand by traffic lights with canisters and
signs asking for help for the homeless. Like most – I have to question the
validity of this operation. Does the money actually go to the homeless? Or is
it going to the individual - not overly shabbily dressed – trying to get people
driving up to the light – to give money. Unfortunately – one never knows.
Personally – I DON’T get the feeling they are God’s plants. This is to say – I can’t
give them anything.
The others however – I can’t
resist helping. How can I? They’re poorly dressed. Their clothing seriously
needs washing. They smell. Several days growth of beard clings to the males
faces while a day or two of dirt shadows the females sad expression. They’re positively God’s Plants. They are ALL - God’s Plants to see what you’re
going to do. To see if you’re going to help. To determine if you are truly one
of God’s Children. His special people who know it is our mission to give these
people as much money as we can.
In the last three days I’ve
run into two of them. One male – the other female. Both wore a face of pain; of
loneliness. Both I helped. I can’t – not! I’ve always had to help (and wouldn’t
be telling you this if I felt it wasn’t needed for this blog). This is to say –
please – those of you who are His – help these people. They are just as
important to God as you are and maybe even more. He has His eyes on them – just
as much as He does you - maybe even more. If you are His – you’ll know -
because you will hurt for these people and NOT think they should all be rounded
up and put in places you can’t see them. If you want to feel really good - if
you want to “do the right thing” – if you want to please God – if you want to
pass THE TEST – help these people in anyway you can. You won’t regret it.
