 Finding the Yarn
I find patterns for hand knit handbags, sweaters, scarves, etc. in many different places. Sometimes I see them in magazines and since magazines are more current than books I think I will try to find the same yarn used in the picture. This really turns out to be a problem. I recently saw a picture of very nice knitted handbag with leather trim in an advertisement in a magazine. The handbag was called Urban Cowboy and the pattern was a Grayson E pattern distributed by Muench Yarns, Inc. I searched several web sites for the pattern and finally contacted the company. The company gave me some web sites to contact and I did find one that offered the pattern. They were out of stock and had to order it so it took about two months to get the pattern.

I have been searching for the yarn for at least four months. I have some of it but I still have not found three different kinds of yarn that are needed to complete the handbag. This pattern uses fourteen different yarns which is really unusual. I think the most I have used before is eight different yarns. Anyway I am tired of searching for yarn so I am using substitutes and hoping it will look as good as the picture or maybe even better.
I will let you know when I finish this project.

Do you have trouble finding the yarn you want? Let me know.
