| The Voice of Christian Youth America are braindead

Somewhere in Wisconsin, an elementary school encouraged it's students to dress up in costume every day for a full week as part of something they called "Wacky Week". Sounds like good fun to me. But the Friday of this week, the little kids were given the option of dressing up as either senior citizens, or dressing in the clothes of the opposite sex.
Holy crap! What the hell is going on over there in Wisconsin? Is the school district trying to turn all these little kids gay? Apparently, the Voice of Christian Youth America thinks so:
"A local resident informed the Voice of Christian Youth America on Friday. The Milwaukee-based radio network responded by interrupting its morning programming for a special broadcast that aired on nine radio stations throughout Wisconsin. The broadcast criticized the dress-up day and accused the district of promoting alternative lifestyles."
And in so doing, the Voice of Christian Youth America immediately outed themselves as the barely sentient idiots that they are. Never mind the fact that not one member of this organisation is capable of having a thought without it being fed to them by a religious leader or other official, let's go with their assertion that homosexuality is a terrible thing, condemned by the Bible.
These are elementary school students. They are having fun. Why do we feel the need to read something sinister into the actions of a bunch of innocent children, whose only concern is enjoying their childhood? When did the juxtaposition of a man in womans clothing or vice versa become anything less than freakin hilarious? Why would it be funny enough to base a comedy movie on (such as Mrs. Doubtfire) when an old man does it, but when a bunch of little kids who couldn't care less about gender roles do it, it's horrifying?
Ok, let's assume that kids dressing up for half a day in elementary school as a member of the opposite sex will forever imprint them with homosexual tendencies. The Voice of Christian Youth America are still retards.
Why? Because the kids were not forced to dress as members of the opposite sex. In fact, ignoring that they had TWO theme options for the day, the dress-up days themselves were completely optional. Furthermore, a flyer with details about the themes for each day was distributed a week beforehand. Additionally, guess who was responsible for the themes, who suggested them, and voted on them? The students themselves. So why in the hell are we blaming the school district?
Even if this costume day is as big a deal as these folks are asserting, the fault does not lie with the school district. These kids came up with these ideas on their own. So who would be to blame for that? Their parents. Secondly, a flyer was distributed a week before hand. An attentive parent, who was sincerely worried about their child cross-dressing for "Wacky Week" would have had ample time to tell their child that they shouldn't participate in that particular aspect, wouldn't they? If this is truly as disastrous an occurence as the Voice of Christian Youth America would have you and I believe, the fault does not lie with the school district. The fault lies squarely with the parents of each and every individual child.
So a couple pointers for the Voice of Christian Youth America and the parents that raised hell over this AFTER the fact:
1) Lighten up and develop a sense of humor.
2)Take responsibility for your children dipshits! Quit blaming everyone but the ones responsible. If you have a problem with your kids doing something, and you're given plenty of notice that they might do it, and nobody stops them, whose fault is that?

*I do not hate Christians as a whole (I and many of my friends are Christian). I merely hate the ones who display an amazing absence of both intelligence and common sense, and I actually hate anyone exhibiting these tendencies, regardless of their religion. Have a nice day. |
