 What a week......!!!

The theme of my life right now seems to be 'fast'.  Time is just running away with me.  It doesn't feel like a second since it was Monday, and here I am 10.30am on Saturday already.

I leave for work at 6.45am each morning, Monday-Friday.  My days go by in a flash, I have around an hour in the office each morning to get my materials for the day ready, to do admin from the day before and to generally wake up, eat brekkie, drink coffee and catch up with any gossip before the madness begins.

Then we have three hours of teaching in a morning, lunch at 11.30 for an hour, and either 2 or 3 hours of teaching in the afternoon, schedule depending.  Then there is more office time at the end of the day for marking the worksheets from the day, planning for the next days lessons, discussing any problems or general student progress and lesson success with the management and others in the team, for any additional training, update meetings and to plan for anything special that may be in the pipeline.  We leave the office between 4 and 5pm.

When I reach home, I shower and eat, and then I am done!  This week, I have tried to continue with my Thai practice on an evening, or work on other things, but all my brain is good for is watching a little tele and sleeping.

What this means is that weeks are just flying by scarily quickly, I cannot believe that I have been in Thailand for almost three months now, and that I have been teaching for 8 full weeks.  In some ways I guess it does feel that long, I mean, I feel settled and confident in the classroom now, but in others it feels five minutes since my first lesson.  I hope that the end of my contract in April doesn't come tooooo quickly!

This week has been even more crazy as it was 'culture special' for my Kindergarden students.  Which basically meant our usual routine went out of the window, and for one lesson we teach each class a different aspect of life in an English speaking country, in a fun way.  This involved more planning and for us to be even more on the ball to stop lessons descending into chaos!!!

Also, we have been planning for a special performance on the stage our department has on Tuesday, to promote reading, as the school is opening a new library.  Our job is to promote the English section, and we are doing this by playing games and giving prizes to the kids, one of the games is acting out famous fairytales, and the kids have to guess which one it is.  I have been nominated the role of Cinderella, which should be good fun!!

So, I have come to the conclusion that I am going to be mainly a weekend thoughtster, I just don't have the energy to write in the week, or for that matter anything to say!

Have a fab weekend all, I know I will, doing absolutely nothing but battery recharging!!!

:o)

Wow your days sound really busy, it's good sometimes, but at others it wears us out. So long as you drop in to thoughts and let us know how you are going... if you can resist not coming in :)
