As I said yesterday, today I haven't studied any new words, but instead have gone back over my nan's and nii's from yesterday, tried to cement my colours and animals in my brain and even had a search for some Thai music online (not a patch on the Indian stuff I used to love listening too I'm afraid!)
Although, I have the problem that, on leaving work on Wednesday, I announced to everyone I was spending four days learning Thai, and on Monday I would be impressing them all with my skills. The problem is, even though I have spent time with my books and CDs, the process doesn't seem to be as simple as I thought, and is going to take me a long time. I don't mind that, afterall, Rome wasn't built in a day...... But, in an attempt to impress the girls at work a little tomorrow, I have searched my books for a couple of sentences to use.
Chan awk siang thuuk mai kha - Do I pronounce it correctly?
Par sa thai korng di chan yair ka nart nan loey rer - Is my Thai that bad?
(this one is bound to go down well, but it's a lot of words for me to say properly lol)
Phrung nee phop kan - See you tomorrow.
(One to pull out of the bag at the end of the day!!)
Tow Rai - How much?
So, I am now going to practice my tones like mad on the 'is my Thai that bad?' sentence, I love it!
