When was the last time you heard from God?
My pastor asked that Thursday night and I just had to hang my head gultily and laugh.
It has been a hectic week. Last Sunday my son-in-law (a construction worker) and my daughter were supposed to come help me install laminate wood flooring in my bedroom. My room is only about 10 by 12 and it should have taken 3-4 hours or so. Eddie flaked out so Christina came down to try to see what she could do. Without the experience, we got about 1/2 way done working around church and things Sunday.
I came home from school Monday and we were going to knock out the rest. We got 18 inches away from the wall and discovered we were out of material. I didn't have the club membership to get another box but set up an appointment with a friend for Tuesday.
Meanwhile, my dad had hip replacement surgery on Tuesday. He sailed through it with flying colors and was released from the hospital Saturday, but we still spent most of the day at the hospital. (Around my other two appointments and the dash to Costco for the material).
Wednesday was my husband's birthday. A close friend was going to take us all to a snazzy restaurant and we were excited. Just two more rows of floor to lay and we would be done! We finished the flooring and were working on the trim. 5 minutes before we were stopping to get ready I heard a scream. Christina had been trimming off calk, cutting toward herself with a box cutter,(and telling herself that was foolish)when the blade slipped taking off about a third of her thumbnail and a good chunk of thumb. Larry went on to his dinner and we spent the next 4 hours in emergency. She would be ok, but with a 3 1/2 month nursing infant was in need of help.
So we come to God. Christina had been away from her home for 4 nights and was hurt. She wanted her bed. I had two more appointments, but no school. I have a partner for my sign language class that I am supposed to meet with once a week. The report we turn in Friday morning is our homework grade. The only time we can schedule a meeting is Thursday from 9 to 10 after church. I texted her in the morning to see if there was any earlier time we could meet. Our only other option was 6:45 Friday morning. We checked a couple of other solutions and then I texted "We can either do tonight or we can pretend." She responded with "pretend is fine".
Great!! That was 2 hours of driving and half a tank of gas saved! We quickly decided on the details and I typed up the report.
Then I started to pray. I can't say my prayers are always this defined but I was praying and I saw my cell phone quite large in front of me. The word PRETEND came floating up off the screen and dissolved into LIE. I was a bit startled, but I am at least smart enough to give in when God is talking. I apologized to God and finished my prayers. I gave my partner a call. "I'm sorry I'm a flake" I told her. "I can't lie and I'm sorry I asked you to lie. I'll be there tonight at 9." She forgave me and agreed to meet me. I rushed Chris and Jared home, turned around and came back to town for church and to meet with my partner and went back to her house after class Friday morning.
God made a way to take care of the gas, people to help her when I couldn't be around and a fairly quick healing. She is still in a lot of pain but is doing much better at actally being able to use the hand. Meanwhile, I thank Him that He loves me enough to talk to me so clearly. I hope next time it will be for better circumstances.

This was a blessing to read! :) Thanks for being so honest with us!
We can get so busy in everything else that we fail to tend to our relationship with Him. Plus...sometimes the easy way out seems SOOO sweet...but it's just the devil's way of getting you to renounce your God and morals/ethics.
Good for you for not giving in...I was very proud. ;-)
Blessings to you, and hope you have a splendid week!

It's not always easy to do the right thing, but, when we hear God's voice and obey, we grow spiritually, and He is able to use us in ways we cannot even imagine (and what a witness for Jesus!)!
When we brush conviction or God's voice aside, we 'hear' God less and less, until our hearts harden and it is almost impossible to 'hear' Him. I am very glad you chose to follow the Lord's leading! He will always make a way when we humble ourselves to Him! :) May God continue to bless and keep you and yours! :)

Thanks Naomi! Even though this is not the way I prefer, I love to hear God speak to me. I want people to know that He is real if you will seek Him. Have a blessed week as well! (I was proud of myself too once I got over having so little integrity in the first place!) lol

You're right Alice. It's not always easy to do the right thing. However, when God makes it that vivid, you kinda don't have a choice! I do want to follow God's leading though because I really do want my life to make a difference in the kingdom.
Have a happy Monday!

You have such a good heart.
You have a very full and busy life.
I give you much credit.
I do not think I could keep up with that schedule.
I would probably lie...and say..I am sick..please excuse me.
I guess it would not be a lie, because if I had that much on my plate, I probably would be sick.
Sick of being so busy.
May you draw strength in the times you hear from God.
Peace.

DS, thanks for the encouragement. I do draw strength from the fact that God still has time to deal with me even when I don't give Him the time He deserves.

What an awesome testimony Deb!!!! God is so wonderfully faithful and He is talking if we but only open ours, eyes, mind, heart, and soul. He comes through clear as a bell ringing Sunday praise. What a blessing to read this post. Such a huge lift up for me.
Thanks for sharing. If you don't hear from me, its because my job takes up soooooooo much of my time. I eventually catch up.
Blessings to you my dear friend,
Kim
