 Cyber Friends

As I read and interact with people on this site I got to wishing we were closer and could meet. Then I laughed. Wouldn't it be funny to really see how we all are?  In cyberspace you can be anything; any age, any sex, any occupation. We can create whatever persona we want and change it at will.

We can pour out our feelings here to "faceless" people or caring icons. But, if that person was sitting across from us at a Denny's, would we feel that same freedom? Most peoples biggest fear is that "if they really knew me, they wouldn't like me."  Here, if we choose, we can be perfectly honest because it doesn't really matter if they like us or not! If someone chooses to comment, great! If not, well we don't miss it right?

While I tend to be honest and straightforward by nature, (my mom says blunt) I did find out early on there were lots of things you couldn't talk to people about because they looked at you like you just crawled out from under a rock. Even if their response didn't convey disgust, their looks and body language did. So I learned the plastic smile. The "everythings fine" response. The fact that nobody wanted to know how I really felt or what I really thought because it made them uncomfortable. Here, if they are uncomfortable, they can leave!

I saw a comment that said there couldn't be a God because He wouldn't allow bad things to happen. I've chosen to believe that God allows pain in our lives to teach us. Because of the pain I have felt, I have compassion on others in pain. I can say "I understand how you feel, because I've been there." They can look at the peace and strength that I have found through Jesus Christ and know that they can tap into that as well.  I can talk to someone who has destroyed their life with whatever their addiction of the day is and let them know that Jesus can break ALL chains, ALL addictions, ALL unhealthy thought patterns. Now that's not to say that we don't get in the way of His work with our stubborn wills and desires.....

Here we do not have to wear the masks we wear in the real world.
Strange thing is...I am exactly like I am in real life as I am here.
I would say all the things I say in my blog at Denny's....just depends on if the person is receptive..like you said..body language is a dead giveaway.
I deal with that like this...
I do not share deep issues of my heart with those who mock it.
I get really quiet around those types.
Bless you friend.
My first LOVE...his name is Jesus.

I agree. The reason you have a connection with me is because I am also the same in real life as here.

I have learned as I get older that saying less is better in most situations and that if people are mocking you it shows their ignorance not your deficiency.

There is this good book that says...
Do not share your pearls with the swine.

When we ask someone how they are doing, they usually respond with the standard "fine." You know what fine means? It means Frustrated, Irrational, Neurotic, and Emotional. When someone responds with "awesome" or "fantastic," we can bet that they really mean it. But when we hear that that "fine" . . .the truth is likely to be hidden.

Hugzzzzzzzz.

Haha I like that! Frustrated, Irrational, Neurotic, and Emotional. The funny thing is my standard response is awesome. (smile)

Ya know...I pretty much do. I have lived too much of life to let it get me down too often. When you know God is in control, it takes a lot of the anxiety away. Have a great short week Kim!

How is school going for you? I didn't get a chance to find out on Sunday. I wanted to call last night but didn't get a chance.

Good! The 8 am class is a bit rough but next semester I'll have a few more options. Do you know if there are any rides available to Ladie's Conference? I wasn't (and was, and wasn't) going to go but Larry really thinks I should. I'll talk to you about it tomorrow.

I envy your ability to give it all to God. I fear that total release.........I fear so much in life I am finding, I never realized that.

adner, I'm sorry to hear that. The Bible says that God does not give you a spirit of fear. That comes from the ruler of this world.

You might listen to two of my links: Hold Fast and God Speaking. They speak directly to that fear.
