I am just curious if anyone takes pride in supporting the local businesses anymore, or are we all St*rbucks  puppets.

Is convenience superior to quality now?
Just interested in your thoughts.

I do support local business as much as possible. convenience does interfere though.
As in, restaurants, produce markets, convenience market, coffeshop bookstore, plant nurseries.

I do try, but I really like Starbucks and that is because I know what I am getting and get what I want, and dont feel any sense of responsibility if i justend up sat there for an hour wwith a cheap cup of tea and a book.

I have watched so many local bookstores etc. go out of business because of these huge chains. I have a starbucks right next store to my school, yet my self and my students (who can drive)will go 5 blocks down and get coffee from a local shop. costs 2/3rds the price and doesn't taste like it was burnt due to mass production. I am not completely inncent in all of this. I just feel we may want to try just a bit harder.

I'd personaly rather go to a small local buissness than a chain of a store, or resturant or w/e. Thing is, everytime I find a local ice cream place or resturant ect. that i like they get put out of buissness.

In my field of work, I deal with a lot of small local businesses. Right now they are struggling. Support your neighbors, and they will support you.
