'Wealth Isn't Earned by the Hour'
The creation of wealth is the ability to create in your own mind the right situation that will shape your knowledge and develop your thought process to the degree that you can create the wealth that you desire. The only thing that is standing between you and your own wealth creation is your ability to think out side of the box. Knowledge is power and the ability to gain control of your thought process in order to create your own wealth building program is contained in your thought process. Knowledge and thought are one of the same. Knowledge influences your thought and your patterns helps you to develop your knowledge of the world you want to create and provide you with all the wealth you so desire.
In an informative interview via Christianity Today’s Money&Faith.net, Dan Miller gives good guidance for people to become entrepreneurs. He’s a big proponent of the side business, which could take as little as 5 hours per week. He says, Wealth isn’t earned by the hour. It’s made with ideas. We tend to associate income earned with hours worked in the traditional workplace. The person who’s making $8 an hour wants to make $10. The person who’s making $10 wants to make $15. But if they really want to change their financial situation dramatically, it has nothing to do with how many dollars they make per hour. It has to do with how they develop an idea.
But part of what Miller is talking about is the finding of one’s vocation within these side projects. Many people start out with a side business, which they enjoy so much and are so productive doing that the side business becomes their main work. A good part of what Miller does is ask people the right questions, to make them really think about what they want to be doing in life.
Seven Steps to Wealth In 2008
1. To start on the path to wealth, first put aside 10% of your income every month. - It might be difficult at first, but once you get used to it, you won’t miss that 10%.
2. Control your expenses with a budget.
3. Put your money to work for you.
4. Seek safety in your investments, and the advice of the successful. - Don’t misunderstand this to mean that you shouldn’t put your money at risk. You’re going to have to accept some risk if you want your money to grow. Also, don’t assume that because someone is “successful” that they will have your best interest at heart.
5. Own your own home. - Just be sure you get it at the right price. Do your homework first!
6. Provide for your old age, your health and the protection of your family.
7. Cultivate your own powers. Increasing your knowledge and skills increases your options and earning power. - I agree 100% with this law. The really cool part is that this is one of the easiest laws to practice. Read, read, read!
8. Be good Stewarts over what God has blessed you to have.
