They Hung Him on a Cross

They Hung Him on a Cross

For each one of us a physical death will occur at some point in our mortal lives. This body, which is the temporary housing for the eternal spirit that lives within, will return back to the dirt of the ground from which it came. However, our eternal spirit will return back to the Father from which it also came. We have a permanent connection to our father in heaven which can never be separated.

You see God sent His only begotten son into this world to reconcile us back to him. Jesus bore our sins that we would have eternal life. But as He walked among His own brethren, there were those that perceived Him to be a threat to their own way of life. So they sought to capture Him and kill Him in order to stop Him from speaking the truth.

They found that way in Judas one of Jesus own disciples, and Judas decided that it was in his own financial best interest to betray Jesus for a few dollars to satisfy his own greed. Now Jesus must pay with His life for Judas greed, as well as each one of us. For the Bible teaches us that we all have sinned and fallen short of His glory.

Now listen to what happens from this point; “As they led him off, they made Simon, a man from Cyrene who happened to be coming in from the countryside, carry the cross behind Jesus. A huge crowd of people followed, along with women weeping and carrying on. At one point Jesus turned to the women and said, “Daughters of Jerusalem don’t cry for me. Cry for yourselves and for your children. The time is coming when they’ll say, “Lucky the women who never conceived! Lucky the wombs that never gave birth! Lucky the breasts that never gave milk!” Then they’ll start calling to the mountains, “Fall down on us! Calling to the hills, “Cover us up!” If people do these things to a live, green tree, can you imagine what they’ll do with deadwood?”

Two others, both criminals, were taken along with him for execution. When they got to the place called Skull Hill, they crucified him, along with the criminals, one on his right, the other on his left.

However, knowing that he was about to be hanged, Jesus showed pure love for his enemies. At any time He could have chose to climb down from that cross and destroy those who were getting ready to take His life, but instead He chose to stay there and bare the burden of the sins of the entire world.

Now listen to His final prayer, “Father, forgive them; they don’t know what they’re doing.”

How will you show your love this Easter and what will be your prayer? Please comment.

i remember watching the passion of the christ when it first came out, and talking about it with my grandparents. at the time a lot of people were angry because it showed so much brutality. we as christians sometimes forget that we need to be reminded of those things because he did die for our sins. I do not have a lot of experience in christianity yet but what i do know is I am thankful for everything He has given me and my family. He is the one that i turn to for everything, He is the one who gets me through the day. Really great post! and i loved the videos. :) take care! Happy Easter!

Greetings Erica:

Remember this one thing. It is not how much experience you have in christianity as much as your faith in Christ. Put your faith and trust in him, hold on for dear life and don't allow Satan to turn you around. You do that and you will be all right. The so call christians that hung Jesus had lots of experience, but you see how it served them.

Be strong, be encouraged and hold on to God's unchanging hands. He will never leave you or forsake you. Have a happy Easter and just stay in prayer.

Much love,

Davis

I will show my love today by attending our church at Midday when we will sit in silence for 'An Hour at the Cross'. Then I will enjoy fellowship with other members of my church and think how lucky I am to have them. There is such a bond among Christians and that bond is Christ himself. None of us are perfect but our imperfections are forgiven if we truly repent. How wonderful is that!

My prayer will be that I will be given the wisdom and knowledge to spread to others the love that has been given to me. I will ask to have my faith deepened and my relationship with Jesus made more personal.

My you have a truly blessed Easter and may God show himself to you in a very personal way. God bless

Beautiful post and a wonderful reminder of God's love for his children. Thank you, Davis. This post is like a mini Stations of the Cross. I will find a church at 3 and sit there with God. I will thank him from the bottom of my heart for everything He has done for me and my family. That will, of course, humble me and make my cry for the times I've let Him down. I will be cleansed, yet again and will go on to the joyous event on Easter Sunday. I will wake up early and watch the gorgeous sunrise with God. Thanking Him for my family, our blessings and for friends like you. I will also ask for my faith to deepen and for my relationship with Jesus to become more personal. Thank you for that lovely reminder, overthehillandfaraway!

Keep writing, Davis! Your words are precious.

God bless you.

Much love,

Ellie

Overthehillandfaraway, what wonder thoughts you have for this very special day. We all are here today by His grace and His Mercy. Nothing that we do today is more important then being able to be still and reflect upon his goodness. Thanks for sharing your day with me.

Much love,

Davis
