Davistheblackeagle is my chosen name as a symbol of greatness. My father gave me his name which is recognized by all the people throughout the county where he was born and grew up in. I am proud and humble to have my father’s name. So much so, that I gave it to my son as well. My father is a great man, a very strong, proud and courageous black man, a man of faith and one who is loved by all who knows him, and he rides a bicycle daily. He was born in 1918, and today is 90 years old and still in good health. He has been married to my mother for 64 years who is alive today and also in good health at 80 years old.
The black eagle is a symbol of greatness, grace and beauty. I chose this symbol because of the greatness of this beautiful, giant black bird. Knowing that God also made me great in my own way, it is a way of expressing my greatness to the world from the knowledge that all things are connected to the one God who created everything.
This beautiful black bird has a large head covered with long feathers and stocky legs with short stubby toes. He is a handsome jet black eagle with white under the wings, rufous tail and back, gray on the shoulders, bright crimson face and legs, and a black beak. His wingspans range from 6 to7 feet. He spends a lot of time soaring gracefully high in the sky, traveling over 100 miles a day in search of food. I too travel over 200,000 miles a year enjoying the many great gifts that God has blessed me to have, experiencing the beauty and love of it all.
