| Libs wont run for Williamstown

The administration of the Liberal Party (vic) has decided not to contest the seats of Wiliamstown and Albert Park in a bi-election created by the resignation of the Victorian Premier.
Labor is busy accusing the Libs of siding with the Greens and handing them the seats on a plate - strange since the Libs and greens don't really see eye-to-eye on anything.
With a leader such as Ted Baillieu who has quite an impressive history in financial circles it comes as no surprise to me that the Libs made this decision.
Looking at the result of the last State Election it is obvious that running for these seats has been viewed as a bad investment. Labor won the seat of Albert Park with 41.05% of the vote compared to Liberal's 34.64%. Preferences brought this to 59.69% and 40.31%. Williamstown was even worse with Labor across the line with 61.7% compared to Liberal's 20.68%. Add preferences gets us 74.25% v 25.75%.
With a Federal Election in the near future and money already wasted on these seats this looks to me like the sound economic management for which the Liberal Party is famous.
Why send good money after bad?
