| And About The Dark Night. . .

I went to see it this evening. It was incredibly good. The Joker was more central to the movie than the previous versions of Batman and in my opinion, the Joker character was the central figure in the movie. Batman/Wayne were certainly important to the storyline--duh, but something about the Joker kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. Ledger probably will get an Oscar for his role. He was perpetually creepy, freakishly fiendish and completely disgusting--just as the Joker should be.
I was slightly annoyed at the persistent lisp of Christian Bale. It was even more pronounced when he went in to his Batman voice. I'm not a big fan of Christian Bale anyway. The suit was cool, the car was cool, and the motorcycle was excellent. Alfred (Michael Caine) was superb and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox was good, too. Harvey Dent was played by such the gorgeous, Aaron Eckhart. When fate dealt him a cruel hand, it was totally disgusting, but I couldn't stop looking at his face. I kept picturing an exhibit I went to on the human body a couple of years ago. Thank God the whole thing wasn't love story driven and that there wasn't a Kim Basinger type to distract from a minute of the action. The only distraction for me were flittering thoughts about Ledger's death that kept running through my mind time and again. Considering his break up with Michelle Williams and the intensity of the role he played, I can imagine that depression, anxiety, and stress would have been significant issues. I enjoyed the movie and it did have enough cool factor to warrant another viewing at a later date--but first I need to go listen to my Mamma Mia soundtrack a few dozen times and figure out which showing of that I'll go see again this week. :) |

Yes, I totally agree. And Batman's lisp was annoying. It was more obvious when he had the mask on.
I too kept thinking about HEATH as HEATH when he was being disgusting as the JOKER.
I'm glad you liked it, and funny I'm going to Mamma Mia next week with Kaybee :)
thanks for your sharing.

Gosh, for perhaps the first time everyone here ran out to see it before the movie man?? Moi???:O I never noticed a lisp on Bale. GREAT. Now Im just going to be annoyed by it for no reason.
Mamma Mia, save me from that abuse of angellic music! I have come to like the ladies of ABBA...but the commercials never end and I am sick of the poster showing the bride all giddy as she leans over herself. BLEH! You can take Close and Brosnan and stuff it in yer hooha! I dont think anyone could sell me on that one. Even IF they did it in Greece which also makes me sick cuz the place is fragile as it is...adding a production crew and press whatnot could really just tear what's left apart if the Olympics didn't do enough. Save the Acropolis! And, Cape Sunion!
PS Im a lil sick of Morgan Freeman and doubt he really is that good at anything. He just mezmerizes people with his voice and gets to play the black part in whatever whenever...it's just sickenning(like there isn't another black actor who might like a crack at a role??). UGH!
I AM looking forward to see Eckhart as TwoFace and see what a young Ledger does for an OLD Joker. The reviews say the film is better than advertised...but when it comes to Batman, I always have to be skeptical.

good flick. bale, is. good. american psycho anyone? the villian in shaft? the machinist? EQUILIBRIUM? what? are you kidding? rage, masked in such a face? hmmm.... and the point the dark knight, being derived from the newer comic lineages, is that all characters are important, especially the villans. and how closely they resemble the heros. hence.

Brainstormer, GOSH! lol Your rant would be taken so seriously if you hadn't started it out with a word I associated solely with Napoleon Dynamite. :) Love your comments and appreciate your direct honesty. It's always refreshing.

Bloodintheeyes. . .thank you for commenting. I didn't say that Bale was a bad actor, I just said I didn't care for him, just a personal preference.

I get a lil vomit in my mouth anytime someone brings up Napoleon:P That movie was NOT funny to me. The "romance" was mildy cute.
I agree Bale is NOT Bruce Wayne to me. They changed Wayne faster than Bonds. But, Keaton still remains the better Wayne to me--even if he was short:P Alas, they may never get a hero movie right:(

man i loved that they're starting the batman movies over. bale, best wayne ever. kilmer didn't know what he was doing, clooney was TOO mysterious (he was winning before bale), keaton was way too short, way too silly lookin, way too rigid. hate that actor. really OLD! two face was awesome and heath did a better job than old jacky. at the time, jack was the best choice and he pulled it off great. but with the modernisation of the batman movies, i couldn't imagine a better guy for the role! that laugh was so menacing. and the futility of hope was so real. a calculating bastard who wants to watch the world burn! amazing.
