| It is in the interest of everyone.

It is in the interest of everyone to take a good long look at the world and make a difference. It is the responsibility of humanity to keep the heritage of coming generations in good order for our children. It is the responsibility of this generation to teach the coming generation to treat the world with respect. The world in which we live is a multi-dimesional entity. It is a moral, material, and multi-cultural entity. There are rich and deep seams of human experience and intelligence to be mined. There are questions of how to keep the value of the world that we have inherited without wearing it out. There is a dimension to our lives now that is a multi-national global village. Previous generations had only the inheritance of their own children. Today we have the inheritence of the children of our neighbours to consider too. The changing tide of developing nations makes it more pressing to get our own house in order. We can not ask of those in the new indurstrial countries to take steps to preserve the world that we ourselves are unwilling to do. Having had two centuries of industrial development, and the economic benefits associated with it, we can not expect those who are developing economic muscle to do so unless we are serious about doing what we need to. Treating climate change like it is somebody else's problem will not do. Keeping polluting the world as if it is a massive garbage tip without thought of how it will affect the future. Using carbon fuels as if there is a limitless source and talking incessantly about renewable fuels without adopting the hard answers to pressing questions. It is in everyone's interest to take a little time to turn around from the path of destruction we are heading on to take the uphill struggle by the balls and give something worth having to our children. It is in everyone's interest to teach our children how to value their inheritance by setting the example for them to follow.
