the green eyed monster is alive and well.
i love the internet, however i can do without some of the people that are on the internet though. they make places like youtube, myspace, and yes livejournal suck. now i might not be the most intelligent, gifted or 'special' person on the planet. i have a few things i'm good at, but mostly i'm not gifted in anyone area. i write; i get compliments, i get criticism i deal with the latter. i can handle when people don't like the stuff i write.

however, browsing youtube and listening to a few of the people who play music be it cover or original i have seriously never encountered as many people with exceptionally rude; usually often sexist, or racist remarks in my entire online existence, considering that website isn't actually made for those reasons.

case in point, "J" found this guy from seoul korea who plays tap guitar (plays the guitar like a piano), forget he's asian, forget he is a bit on the feminine side, forget that he looks 13; a few have made comments on all of the the above. one person didn't understand why he kept getting thumbs down on his posts, when he would say "are you japanese, or whatever....?" if youtube wouldn't be in maintenance mode right now, i would have pointed out the fact "maybe it's because of your assumption that all asians look alike, or maybe it's the fact that him being asian has nothing to do with the fact that he's talented and it's rude to make such comments?"

i know nothing about the guitar except it's cool to listen to and i admire anyone who has the patiences to learn it, i do not. i also highly admire anyone who can read music and or compose their own. but there is a vast difference between admiring people with such talents and being a jerk, being green isn't pretty nor does it show ones intelligence. why is it that instead of embracing peoples abilities and talents people feel the need to cut them down or one up them? i know it's part of human nature to want to be good, i'd like to hope that we could evolve and be more supportive of people who can accomplish things that we can't, or haven't mastered yet.

the one thing that annoys me is when race, gender or looks are brought into the equation. it's sad that in this day and age some people still can't get over race or gender, seems like the more things people can accomplish there will always be a group who there to say something negative.

this phenomenon seems to go hand in hand almost with when you're happy or in love there will be someone who wants to make you miserable.

why do you think that is? am i just missing something.
