So I havent really written lately, but it's because I have been really busy with school and my sorority and blah blah blah. My inspiration to write comes from one of my professors. Yesterday we discussed in class the issue of immigration. At first I was going to slide out my cell phone and start texting my peeps but than I realize that my family is a bunch of immigrants-and that is not a bad thing because they are the greatest people ever. My parents migrated from Africa and they just became citizens and so did my brother and my sister. I was born here so I am an African-American. Most people would disagree with me saying African before American-especially FDR if he was alive today. He would say that I do not love my country and that my friends is bullshit. I do love my country therefore I dont agree with the new immigration laws, but I am not entirely sure what is to come of this. I read in the newspapers that they are building a wall to keep these ruffians out and I find that so stupid. That's our money building these things and the government finds it necessary to take this out of my pay and do it, without telling us. Why? They are so worried about people outside the country coming in and pretending to be Americans, what about the fact that our own government doesnt strictly follow the laws that govern our society. This is a really hefty issue, and maybe I dont know all the facts. But 40, 50, 60 years ago they opened up Ellis Island to many countries coming to America to survive, so what is the difference now? We cant do one thing and than do another thing people, it doesnt work that way. What do you think?
