 Last Blog Entry...
So, I've had a good run here at thoughts.com. I really did enjoy the last couple months. Asking you all questions and getting awesome answers in return... it really was a blast. But, the time has come for me to move on.

This place started off as a place for people to come together and express thoughts, ideas, new beginnings... it was so beautiful. Then slowly but surely, all the posts started to become gloomy, profanity littered messes that I personally find it rediculously depressing to read. Then of course we had those who came in just to prove a point, to stir up the crowd.... I'm all for that. I really do enjoy seeing controversial subjects discussed. BUT, only if it's carried out in an honorable and dignified way... where everyone's opinion is valued... not attacked. Any forum where opinions are expressed only to stamp out all other opposing opinions... is not a forum I want to be part of. I'm not talking about everyone here. There are still MANY great blogs. It's just a general feeling that pervades now... you can't escape it.

This site is a great idea. Unfortunately, the thoughts.com staff can't do quality control on the posts. Freedom of speech is a great thing. I just wish more people wouldn't take it for granted. Just because we have the right to free speech doesn't mean you have to spout out the most vile thing you can think of and live by it simply because you can.

I'm off to find a happier place. Thanks so much to all of you that made most of my stay here pleasant. I will truly miss you!

For those of you spoken of above.... I just have one thing to say.... a question of course...

Is this who you really want to be?

Bye everyone. =)

I agree with the part about all the depressing blogs, but when people blog they do so about their lives. And life isn't all puppies and rainbows. Just because people don't hide their problems doesn't make them go away.

When you get in a debate with another person they are going to attack your opinion.

If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

I would hate to assume that the question "Is this who you really want to be?" is point towards me. But if it is: Hell yes. I am not ashamed of a damn thing I write about.

angieaki... i agree wholeheartedly with you that life isn't all "puppies and rainbows". I've had my fair share of nightmares. The problem I've addressed, is not the existence of negative happenings in our lives, but the actual FOCUSING on only those negative things. If the only emotion that drives us to write, to share our thoughts, is negativity, I believe that truly is sad. When we write we pass on our feelings to empathetic readers. I just hate to see sadness being passed around more than happiness. It's like passing the peas instead of the chicken. =P (goofy, I know..haha)

As for the question, it wasn't pointed directly at you. I will admit, in my mind, you are part of the group I was speaking to. I know you are happy with who you are and I really do admire your self-confidence. That's very rare these days and it's a beautiful thing. The only thing in regards to you that I truly think is... I hope one day you'll see that you really can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. =) Please don't take that as an invitation to argue. It's really just advice I've seen work wonders, and I'm giving it to you with the utmost respect.

AngieAki, you said, "When you get in a debate with another person they are going to attack your opinion.

"If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen."

I think the problem is that just because someone may have a different opinion than you, doesn't mean that by stating their opinion, they are attacking you, nor does a difference of opinion require a debate. You have to accept that people have different opinions, and on a blog, even if it's "your" blog, they have the right to express them. If you can't accept that...if you don't want to hear any differing opinions, why blog?

Like I said, If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Cratey, I think I understand. You made a choice, and it's yours to make. Hope you find a happier bloglife.

crate....sad to see you go--I just figured out how to bookmark the sites that I like :(
I understand and can feel you about the climate. I think that there are a lot of people here who are sad and are using this as an outlet...
sounds like that's not for you. Good luck and I hope you find another place to share your thoughts with. I've enjoyed reading your posts.

Like turning up just as the last train leaves the platform, here I am. Not too late, I hope, to wish you well on your travels crate but also to say that while I agree with you about focusing on the negative, for me, its a mistake to run away from it to seek the positive. There is always both of each in healthy doeses throughout life and we could not have one without the other. Good luck anyway and may you find what you are seeking.

life is an eclectic mix of emotions, expressing them often means that over-whelming thoughs and feelinga are released. yeah, im sure sometimes negative opinions are depressing, but blogging is a form of unleashing often uncontrollable feelings. so, if you want to find a place n the internet thats all happy smiley smiley you are on the wrong planet.
