Of course, it's "finest" is also considered it's "worst". Greed is never acceptable. I read this fact a couple of days ago... I'm not sure if it's true... but if it is, it's definitely one of the saddest things I've ever come across...
"The three wealthiest families in the world have more assets than the combined wealth of the forty-eight poorest nations."
Really? I hate it when people say, "Well, some people are born to privilege and others, just aren't. That's life." True, that's how life is now. But that doesn't make it right.
Now for the question -
If you could choose only one form of entertainment (i.e. books, magazines, video game console, television) for your child for one year, which would you pick? (Note that you would have control over what games they play, books they read, tv shows they watch, etc., for that year.)
And, at what age of the child would you choose to do this? |

I kow you are speaking hypothetically and all that jazz; however I am going to answer your question by saying that I do not want children in my life, ever.
Why?
You have just proided a very good reason. The human population is at a plague-like level. There are too many of us and there is not enough to go around - a claim that I am making in the face of charities who are just as greedy as said wealthy families (marble flooring/decoration at World Vision HQ in Melbourne, anyone?) who say precisely the oppositte.

I hear ya gee_frizz. Actually, I'm uncertain as to whether I'll bring children into the world myself. Take even for example, Sesame Street. I know... bear with me... haha Watch one of the episodes from the 80s... and watch it now... It is SO dumbed down. The toys and shows provided to children now-a-days are mindless... How bout Legos? They were just blocks back in the day.. that YOU put together to make whatever you want... now... everything is premade and with a snap just a few pieces... you've got the biggest Lego spaceship ever.
Effort is a lost art. No one has to work for anything anymore. The television is becoming a babysitter, instead of a means to teach.
I'm not sure if I really want to bring a child into a world like that.

I know what you mean. I think im lucky in one way. My children would rather play outside riding their bikes, coloring, drawing. My oldest will put his nose in a book. I dont let them watch tv all the time it is very limited in time and what they watch. My younger two boys love blocks above all the other toys you can do alot more with them.

You are lucky Miss... lots of kids would rather do anything than be caught dead *gasp* playing outside!
But you really do miss out if you don't go outside, read books, ... explore!
You sound like you've got some great kids. =)
