HOW TO POLISH SHOES PROPERLY
It is often not enough to simply clean your shoes and get rid of the dirt and muck that accumulates from constant use. Shoes also need to be polished in order to be presentable.
The way you polish a pair of shoes depends on the material it is made from. There are different ways to preserve the luster of the leather, the suppleness of rubber or the warm softness of fabric canvas used in shoes (although polish is not the appropriate word for canvas shoes). In several occasions, such as black-tie events, having comfortable shoes is not enough; you’ll need to have attractive and presentable ones as well.
For leather shoes, there are shoe polish agents that can be bought off the market. These polishes may be in the form of wax, creams or liquids. Liquid and wax polish for leather shoes are very effective in keeping the leather shiny and glossy. They are often infused with active ingredients that serve to protect the leather (i.e. resistance to moisture). After the shoes are thoroughly cleaned, apply the polishing wax or liquid on key areas of the shoes, particularly on cracked and worn out areas. Get a piece of smooth, clean cloth and lightly rub the polish on the leather shoes using small, circular motions.

Creams are more preferable for polishing leather though. When allowed to stand for a while, the cream can make the leather supple and its color vibrant.
For rubber shoes, it is important to be careful while washing it. Don’t brush the surface too hard when running it under soap and water, otherwise you’ll make its color go dull and/or gouge deep marks on the surface with the bristles of the brush.
Do not neglect to polish your shoes as often as you clean them. This will also help make your shoes last longer at ComfortableFoot.com.
