Having been a teacher of Safe Driving for Seniors for quite a few years, I thought I might pass on some ideas to a larger group.
One of the questions I have asked the students is, "What piece of equipment on your car is not for you?"
This usually gets responses from surprise to annoyance. "Why am I paying for a car and not getting what I paid for?" Now that I have their attention (and yours too, I hope) I tell them. The Directional Signals. You know you are going to turn, or change lanes. The Signal is for the other drivers to have time to respond to your planned move.
When you don't let them know, they climb up your back as you slow down to turn, or they start to honk when you come into their lane without giving them the safety and curtesy to adjust.
Try it ! It will quickly become a habit and increase safety for everyone.
This is only my second blog, so if I'm not quite with it, give me a little space. Someone sent me a notice that he/she wanted to be on my list(?) I don't know what I am supposed to do. Tell me. Everyone is welcome.
