I went out to the new property off of Lahring rd. and Fagen rd.. I set up on the edge of the feild, about 25 yards into the woods. I found out later from another hunter that this was a mistake because deer don't go into the feilds until after dark. Anyways, I set up on the edge of the state land and put out my bait and hung my scents. Once I was settled in, I noticed an old, rusted fence about 10 yards away. I then noticed a man on a work tractor in another open feild on the other side of the woods, so I decided to go and ask him if I had set up on his property, and appologize if I did. It took a while to get his attention, but his dogs noticed me right away. There was a big white one that looked kind of like a husky shepard mix that barked, but that was it. The little black lab mix was another story. He was far from freindly and he let me know it. I just kept backing away slowly until his master noticed me. He came around whith his tractor and called his dogs, then got down to talk to me. He told me that it was not his property, but he let me know what he thought the property lines were and, with a little looking, we found that I was indeed off of the state land and on private property. We talked for a bit more, then I went to go move my blind. After it was moved along with the bait and scents, It was about 4:10, so I quickly settled down into my blind. After 40 minutes or so, I heard something along side of me, but I hadn't opened that window, so I couldn't see what it was. Once whatever it was had gone, I opened that side, but soon realized how exposed I was with all three sides open. The good thing about the kind of blind I have is that if I don't like how its sitting, I can just grab the insides and move. So after it was moved, I closed up one of the windows and added a little to my stealth. Unfortunatly, I saw nothing at all, but I did HEAR a few things off in the distance. After I had packed up, I heard some late shots, then I made my way twards my car, about 1/3 mile away. When I got back to the lot, another hunt was just comming out of the woods, and we talked for about 20 minutes. He gave me alot of good pointers that I will put to use tomarrow. Twards the end of our conversation, two more hunters came up and told us that another hunter had been shooting (not hunting, just shooting) from his tree stand. He told him to get out (which technically, the man could have stayed because of state law) and the man left. When he went up to his blind, he noticed that the man that was in it had undone the ratchet strap. After we all got done talking I got in my car and headed off. I plan on going back out tomarrow in the early morning.
