Having the proper Perspective Makes You Tons of Money
There are an awful lot of folks who take off for Internet Marketing because they think it will allow them to spend their days slacking, playing games, watching tv, shopping, whatever and that they only have to do an hour or so of work every day to keep it up. Obviously this is not truly how operating online works. As with any work, it is the mentality that you have that will determine how much success you find (or dont, as the case may be). If you imagine "I never want to do any work" then you can believe you are not going to make any money. When you do have a serious but positive approach and outlook, though, you have the potential to make all kinds of money. Here are a number of things which will help you.
1. Make yourself consider this fresh undertaking as a job because it is just that: your new job. So many new IMers simply settle in about the couch with a laptop computer and the remote control. They think okay, Im about to do a little work but Im still going to have fun. Allowing a television set or stereo to play in the background as background noise is one thing. Settling in to view it is fully another. Find a table and work there. This will allow you to keep the working time separate from the entertaining time. Yes, you are most likely going to feel just like you are back at your "typical" job but that's fine.
2. Establish standard hours for work. Perhaps the nicest thing about IM is that you have a much wider variety of working hours to choose from. When you earn your living on the net you don't have to live by that tired "nine to five" mindset. At the same time you ought to make time for a few hours on a daily basis that are just for working. If you see that you will get much more done later in the day, set aside your work hours for that time. The best thing about this is that, over time, you will teach your body to be ready to work at specific times of day and after a while you won't have to force yourself to focus, your body will just start thinking like it is as work on its own.
3. Use a confident mind-set. This may sound extremely cheesy but the truth is that remaining positive and believing "I can do this" is often exactly what you need to meet your goals. It is not really unlike how, in telesales, people are told to really smile while they talk because people can hear the smile. When you convey to yourself that "I am good at this", "I can absolutely do this" or even "I am definitely going to meet my goals today" that will translate into the things you do and your clients will pick up on it as well.
You could possibly be thinking that the entire "it is important to have a good attitude" thing is trite and best left to daytime talk shows, but it holds true that most success is found by people who have a good attitude. People who believe "I want money to find me" do not generate very much money at all but folks who think "I am going to make money today" find high levels of success!
