 But I Haven't ****** *** Yet
I bought Three Days Grace's first album at Walmart today for like four bucks...

Happy 4th of July. :] Don't really care that it's America's whatever birthday. I had a pretty great day.

I don't really associate this day with patriotic things at all. =P The only time I even thought a USA-related thought was when I looked at my cousin's baby, who was wearing a red white and blue outfit. I spent all day with my family, which is nice.

Today my parents and brother and I all went to Walmart together and my brother got a haircut there. =P He looks like that guy on Mortal Combat, the really old Sega one.  It's hilarious. We bought fireworks at a tent outside in the parking lot and then came home and cooked out.

My brother's love interest showed up inexpicably. She's also one of my friends. We hung out and ate for awhile, then she left and we set off fireworks in our yard.

"Where we gonna set 'em off, Daddy?"
"On that side of yer garden."
"That side?"
"No, the other one behind your maters so it'll block everyone's view."

Actual coversation...

I sat on the porch while my dad did his best to blow up our property. I got some decent pictures, which is strange. Now the whole house smells like smoke, and my dog won't come out from under the bed.

It was beautiful. I played with sparklers like I did when I was little, when I was amazed at how I could handle and even play with something so dangerous and not get hurt. I remember dropping mine once when I was younger and running to my dad, afraid that I had started a fire.

"It's okay," he said, "it'll just fizzle out right there on the ground when it's ready. Watch."

And I stood there with him and watched it.

Today was slightly different from back then. I traced my name in the sky with the glowing stick, making big infinity symbols and hearts all around me. My brother and I had wars with them and threw them at each other, running barefoot on the grass that was wet with rain from the showers this morning. We hurled those snapdragon popper things at each other and both got mildly burned. My parents actually sat together, even held hands. Everyone laughed and smiled.

I haven't been happier in a long, long time.
