| Prove to me God exists...

Ok so this blog is borne out of an interesting chat I had with a very dear friend of mine this afternoon.
She has been my friend for over 23 years, since infants’ school, and even though life has taken us in different directions, and we don’t see or talk to each other much, she is still the best friend I ever had, and if I need her, she will come running to be there for me. A lovely person.
So she comes from a Christian family, her father is from Jamaica, her mum from Sierra Lionne. She was born here and has always been raised as Christian. She does, however, believe she has only been a true Christian for around 2 years, because that’s when she considers she gave herself to God fully.
Now as you know, I am an atheist. I don’t believe in God at all.
This is something she has never pushed me on. She's never tried to force her beliefs onto me, she's happy to believe what she does and leave me to do the same.
Her mum, however, is a lovely, lovely woman but every time I see her she has a glint in her eye, like I am the one that got away. She believes that atheists simply need to be persuaded.
Personally, I don’t think anyone can be persuaded. I don't think anyone could convince me God exists, any more than I could persuade a religious person that he doesn’t.
What do you guys think? Do you think anyone could become a believer if they just heard something that convinced them, and if you were trying to convince me, explain to me why and how you believe what you do, what would you say?
I like to think I have an open mind, and am open to anything, but it would be quite a challenge to convince me!
I'm asking this most respectfully, as I feel what people believe is true to them. So if you are of the mindset that I am an open book, just waiting to be convinced...show me how you would convince me.
I warn you...I will take some convincing! I hope you can come up with something good. Whatever people say, I know that even though I am unlikely to agree, I will, as ever, be inspired by the sheer faith people have. I think its amazing.
I look forward to your responses xxx
Peace and love xxx

I think it has more to do with life experiences...
I grew up in a Christian household, and when I was a teenager, I turned my back on it. But since then, I've had a lot happen that has lead me back to my upbringing. I think that maybe when you hold your baby for the first time, you may come to believe in a higher power, even if it's not necessarily the same God that your friend, her mother, and I believe in.
Also...with the dreams of your dad coming to visit you, I really don't know how you can be an atheist and not have some belief in an afterlife. Your dad is waiting for you on the other side, and will show you the splendor when you get there, regardless of what you believe in this life. Faith becomes more important when there are children involved, I think, but they're such miracles in the first place that I think you'll find a faith in something. :)
Lots of love,
E

I don't believe or disbelieve in any God or Goddess simply because they are all based on the same amount of solid evidence, no evidence. I know you are supposed to have faith and stuff but I don't.
The only thing I believe in is that there is SOMEONE up there and they has got my back.

When it comes to God and spiritual matters I believe that each person has to find the path that is right for them. It's not my job to convince or prove a Higher Power to anyone .... that's the Holy Spirit's (God) job. Things of a spiritual nature are never convinced or proved .... they are felt with the heart. Without spirit you would be a person without a soul ... unable to love David, your unborn child or anyone. Religion claims to have the spiritual realm all figured out. I don't think it's all that neat and tidy. Our spiritual experiences are different and unique to each of us. I wish you many beautiful moments .... moments not physical in nature, but felt with the (spirit) heart. Peace.
