So yesterday was April fools. I was determined that this year, just for once, I would retain my dignity and not fall for some daft joke. I decided that if I didn't answer my phone until noon, if I didnt engage in conversations etc...I would be safe.
In an attempt to be all grown up, yesterday I decided to watch the news and GMTV whilst getting ready for college. And there's this clip from a 'documentary' about a particular variety of penguins they have discovered that can fly. These penguins, they said, do not need to huddle together in the cold depths of winter to keep themselves warm, oh no...no, they fly to the tropical rainforests to 'bask in the sunshine'
In my defence, I did not see the whole video, just a small clippet. So I spend the whole morning asking people did they see the thing on telly about the flying penguins. People are looking at me like I'm nuts, but no one says anything, except that they are gonna check it out online when they get home. Incidentally, its on YouTube if you wanna see it, just type in 'flying penguins' (when I hear that now, its so obviously a joke!)
Also in my defence...this is the BBC, a major national institution, not exactly known for its sense of humour.
I dont know how many people fell for it, but at least one person did.
I told my mum about it and she watched it and texted me
'haha u daft sod. my fav bit ws wen 1 tried 2 land on the tree! xx mum xx
Watch it, and you will see what she's talking about.
I told David I had been taken in by it (and felt like a twat to boot) and he just laughed and said thats one of a million reasons why he loves me. My naivety is 'endearing' and as he said...I may have dyed my hair brown...but inside...I'm still very much a blonde. Lol x
Happy Tuesday guys

Bless darling...my favourite bit was at the end when the head penguin shouted 'April fools!!'...hehe x you know I'm just kidding ya. I love you BECAUSE you're the type of girl who'd believe penguins could fly...when you think about it, that means you believe in the impossible, the unlikely, becoming real...and thats never gonna be a bad trait.
Damn...I'm good. Lol xxx
Love ya babes xxx
P.s. The flying penguins might have been a spoof, but I'm telling ya, haggis really are small furry creatures that live in the hills in Scotland...honest! Hehe xx couldnt resist. Love you! xxx

I remember saying or doing the most strange and funny things while I was pregnant and I always got around it by say, "Well I am pregnant now". Let me tell you, you can get away with alot. hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe
So I will let you get away with it because "you are pregnant"

Don't let them tease you Cheb. I have seen the flying penquins too. Of course that was after a night of beers and Yukon Jack....but still....I saw them too.

They showed the clip on the nightly news here in the States. [With an explanation, prior to showing the clip, that it was an April Fool Joke shown on the BBC] I must admit it did look rather convincing. Peace.

KP & Mamacita - thanks for the heads up. It's nice to finally have an excuse!! I will remember that, lol. And when s/he is born, I will blame any nuttiness on having a child and an old fart to look after! Lol xxx

HungryHeart _ Thanks...I think! Lol x When I was at junior school, a squirrel once ran down a tree and leapt at the window to our classroom, hitting it with a thud and running off. I found myself yelling 'look, a flying squirrel!' (dont ask why, I dont know) and everyone laughed, cause they heard the thud but didnt see what caused it. Took me years to live that down.
Sigh...I am a simple soul...my fathers daughter...and certifiable. Lol x

Colorado Dreaming - Now if they had said on the one I saw that it was a joke...I would never have believed it! But then...it wouldnt have been a joke if they had given away the punchline, lol!
The only reason I fell for it anyway is because it was the BBC...they dont usually have a sense of humour! Ah well...
Thanks for stopping by. Peace xxx
