Mike Huckabee shoots up the polls again (wisconsin
Mike Huckabee republican candidate, x-Governor of Arkansas, has been the underdog the majority of this presidential race. Starting without any money and as virtually an unknown outside of his region he has managed to beat out an impressive line up of several well known and respected republican candidates. Now that the field has been narrowed to the final two, (Mike Huckabee and John McCain) Huckabee finds himself again against all odds. From the moment the virtually became a two man race following the suspension of Mitt Romney's Campaign, there has been calls for Mike Huckabee to drop out. Arguing that he couldn't possibly win being so far behind in delegates. Some even saying it was mathematically impossible, which at first might have been a stretch, however the numbers after the Potomac primary took place does make one wonder how could he possible win? Though the resilience of Mike Huckabee has proved that every time it seems as though every force in the election has lined up against him he over comes what seems to be the impossible. Could it be that Mike Huckabee did indeed major in miracles as he had stated to his pundits when confronted with the accusation that he couldn't possibly win because it was "Mathematically Impossible"?

Mike Huckabee has overcome some odds in this race, down right long shot odds. He has won in states where polls put him 10+ points behind (like the Louisiana primary). He has come in range of McCain in single digits in places where he polled down at near 30% down. In places like Virginia, where many thought he didn't stand a chance of even coming close. The question becomes is his race gaining momentum? Or was the Potomac Primaries reflective of the rest of the battle he faces while trying to collect delegates and win states.
If things didn't seem hard enough with Mike Huckabee losing all three Potomac primary states, and with most of the Republican Elite throwing their weight and endorsement behind the other candidate insisting that this race is over and asking Mike Huckabee to bow out. Time and time again from Republican Governors to other candidates that had previously dropped out, i.e. Mitt Romney, asking for him to leave the race. Making claims that it had become impossible for him to win. That he was dividing the party. Even the ex-president George "H" Bush endorsing the other candidate. Huckabee withstanding all these attempts to persuade him to abandon his campaign, still yet resisting there pleas.

One thing is clear, Huckabee is determined to stay in this thing until someone has the 1191 delegates needed to secure the nomination as pursuant to the republican party's rules. He appears that in doing so he is giving people a choice. A choice they wouldn't other wise have if he would just quit as his opponents have suggested. The longer he stays in it seems his campaign keeps gaining momentum, attesting to this is the fact that 5 days before the Wisconsin primary (which is scheduled for February 19, 2008) the polls showed Mike Huckabee down by around 18 points with John McCain having a healthy almost un-catchable lead. However almost like a "Miracle" one day before the Wisconsin Primary a new poll out shows McCain and Huckabee almost neck and neck. With McCain having only a slight couple point lead.

Is this because of some chord that Huckabee is striking with the American Voter? Is it really in protest over John McCain not being conservative enough? Is it in reaction to the media and the republican establishment telling voters that its over, not to bother voting because this thing is all wrapped up? What is it that is going on here. One thing for certain is that Huckabee has a long way to go, to have a shot at the nomination. If it is impossible or not no one knows. One thing is for certain, If things keep going the way they have been going for the Huckabee Campaign. Their might be a whole lot of other people who start believing in miracles.
