McCain battles fiercest opponent: The Internet!

One of John McCain's biggest challenges in this campaign so far has been battling the perception that he's too old for the white house. He has taken some steps in that direction by joking about his own age, effectively downplaying the importance of the issue, and keeping a busy schedule. Recently, however, more and more attention has been placed in his computer skills, and many people are concerned that the reason John McCain refers to an internet search as "a google" is not because he hasnt had the time to learn, but rather because he doesn't want to, or much worse, can't. Others like Andrew Romano from newsweek.com seem to think that it doesn't matter.

Romano argues that McCain's lack of computer skills are because it is not a necessary part of his job, essentially his staff filters the information and relays it to him. He also argues that to make effective decisions about the internet one does not need to use the internet, like how senators pass bills on all sorts of things from farming to immigration without actually experiencing those things themselves. While that argument does mostly convince me that McCain doesnt need to use the internet to understand the internet, it sure as hell would help. Unlike farming or immigration using the internet can be done almost anywhere nowadays and with minimal effort. I'm not saying the guy should start writing code for the newest version of adobe photoshop, or create some funny flash movies online, but simply surfing the web and checking your email would take at most minutes to learn.

While I agree that this issue should be one of the last things on voter's minds come election day, it definitely does not help younger voter's perception of him. [Sarcasm]I mean, like, the guy was like, born before like, the printing press even right? LMAOROFL-C0pter!!11!12[/Sarcasm]

P.S. I put up a poll on this, tell me what you guys think about this issue... oh btw McCain is 71 yrs old, not 72 like I put on the poll, though he will turn 72 before the election.
