Driving the Shore Road gave us ample scenery. The Gulf with Mexico was often inside sight. At the Wakulla Visitor Center, we learned that some of the "Tarzan" movies of this 1930's and 40's providing Johnny Weissmuller were filmed at Wakulla Springs. Just across the street from the center, was a park with springs that was once very popular. The belief that the water would stop anything from headaches to help serious illnesses brought a lot of people to the area. Today the springs can be there, but all the bath houses have passed away.
Further with, after more scenic generating, at Bald Point Park, we stopped for our picnic lunch. The view was splendid! Often the squad car will sit beside the booth waiting for a call. It must be wonderful to live ordinary low crime area!
Crooked River Lighthouse, another with the Lighthouse Tour lighthouses, is only open to the general public on Saturday, but visitors are free to tour the lighthouse keeper's home anytime. It is a replica of the 1895 four room house. The exceptions are air conditioning and modern plumbing.
